window tint

Yesterday I went to a tint shop, told them i wanted to match my back with the front, he said, that is 20%... i said cool, lets do it. They did a great job but when i got home, i realized from the inside of the car, you can see a difference of the darkness. So i got out, same thing. Its clearly visible that the front is now darker. I went back to the place and they said its fine, give it time to get the water out. I disagree and wanted to see if anyone else got tint done in the front. I dont have experience with the combination of aftermarket tint and factory tint.

I also have tint. It is normal because the fronts are a film that is stuck onto the inside of the window and the rear windows are dyed from the factory. from the outside my windows all look very close in shade. On the inside the fronts almost appear darker. I got 20% on the fronts as well

Ill find a pic and post it if I can

Give it a few days (like 3). My windows looked like i painted them black when I got it done at first - then after a few days the water gets out and they dont look so dark.

Also take into consideration the reflective properties might be slightly different and impossible to match perfectly. AND you get more light in through your windshield which can throw off the look from front to back.... the picture above is actually a great representation of how you should judge the match... high noon or with the sun directly behind you...

How much did you pay for just the 2 front windows?

Sorry mitsu13, I just got your PM now. My fronts are a HAIR darker than the rears, but it is only noticeable if I point it out to someone, and even then it's only noticeable from inside the car on a very sunny day.

Also, keep in mind, different brands of tint will have different shades, and also different reflective properties, and different UV properties. You can go to 30 different tint places and you'll end up with 30 different results, and one, several, or even none of them might match perfectly. If it looks OK from the outside, the job is quality with no bubbles, wrinkles, or lint, I'd say it's probably a good tint job and over time you won't even notice it.

I went to a tint shop today and they gave me a price of $60 for 2 windows. I will go to 45% or probably 40% tint. I want it lighter than the 2 windows at the rear.

40%-45% is going to be very light. A common middle ground is 30%, have you looked into that?

Yeah, the guy showed me all the tint grades, and I'm still thinking about 30% and 35% to. What's your tint grade in front? I dont want it to be darker than the rear window.

Mine is an almost perfect match at 20% up front. It's SLIGHTLY darker, but hardly noticeable.

The rear is 20% from the factory.

I think you'll be very dissatisfied with only 40% up front. If you want it close, but not darker than the rear, you can find a tint shop that has 25% tint. Also, keep in mind, brand is actually important with tint. 3M makes some very long lasting film where as some other brands will give **** poor results, even when applied professionally. Just food for thought when shopping for "a good deal".

FYI, here's mine at 20%

Thanks for the input. I will probably go above 30% and will ask for the brand and warranty. I just want to reduce the heat a little bit. And you have a nice ride bro.
