Roof antenna

Has anyone ever thought of replacing existing one to a shark fin antenna?

Seeing mazda cx-5 or bmx x3 makes me want to change mine.

Anyone? You know your thinking that sounds nice to add in.

I've thought about it and looked into doing so with perhaps a shark fin "cover" (yeah I know it sounds silly)... By unscrewing the whip and putting said cover over it. But, I have not found any such thing online, they are all mostly solid pieces and would require you to remove the stock antenna unit/housing.

I've been looking at getting one of these:

It's at least a few inches shorter than the OEM low-band antenna we currently have. As for a shark fin, I've yet to see a good solution for that. I'm sure you could get one and hardwire it, but that's a lot more work than I'm willing to go through just for an antenna.

Does anyone know if our OEM antennas are taped-down, screwed-down, or that it uses some sort of clips?

Sorry, I think I need to clarify...

I'm referring to the base of the OEM antenna (not just the tail/whip portion...) How is the base held down??

A shark-fin antenna that goes over your OEM antenna base and claims to fit the Mitsu. Lancer.

I emailed this website www.visualgarage.com and asked if they have a shark fin that will work for the '13 OS with navigation and SIRIUS. Hopefully they will reply quickly.

mRVR do you have SIRIUS and Nav? Otherwise Visual Garage already has a unit that should work for you. I think it was $69 when I looked yesterday?

I do have Sirius... So, is that what the whip antenna is for top there? Can I remove that whole contraption once free Sirius runs out??

Yeah, I saw that $69 price... Still a bit on the high side. I Just want a shark-fin "cover"

$69 is for the shark fin cover. The whip is your AM/FM radio receiver.

I have a Visual Garage MKII antenna/cover on my '12 OS SE with Sirius. It works fine, although it's large and doesn't look all that OEM.
