Any news on 2014 Outlander Sport?
Awaiting for something fun and affordable from Mitsu so I can retire my 1999 Eclipse GST. I appear to have a couple exhaust valves starting to leak so the head will need to be rebuilt. It's been a great 200,000 miles on the stock engine, but I don't have time for the work. It still drives pretty good so I have some time...
I'm hopeing Mitus puts a more powerful engine opion in the 2014 Outlander Sport, else the Volkswagen Tiguan is peaking my interest... Evo is not an option due to cost and I'm not happy that the Ralliart doesn't have a 5 speed option, so that's out too. Besides I think the CUV will better fit my future needs due to the extra size.
Thoughts?

Not a peep about the 2014s, there's nothing from the dealership folks. I was just there this pass Friday picking up some crush washers from their parts dept. None of them seem to have heard anything neither.
Like Wes have stated, the CVT is noisy when you stomp on the gas and get the revs up towards 3K RPMs... Howver, Once you get up to cruising speed the road/tire + wind noises overtakes the CVT sounds (it does get "quieter" then). SO, you'll have to decide which is more annoying!

The tiguan looks like it got a facelift for 2014, but the rest of the body styling still appears frumpy... I do like what they did with the new Touareg < it looks better.
- D.
PS: I'd say if you haven't test-drove the Mazda CX-5 - specifically the 2.5L( the updated motor, NOT the old 2.0L...) Give that a shot, you'll be quite amazed by the uptick in power. And, there's NO annoying transmission noises.
They are more expensive than the O.Sports by ~$7,200 for similar features / options, just a heads up. And, they don't offer the panoramic roof.

There is no change for power trains for 2014 over the 2013 model. The only change is the new Mitsubishi 6.1 inch touchscreen radio display( no navigation, HD radio standard) is now standard on SE trim levels. Looks like a back up camera may b standard on SEs too. The new Mitsubishi 7 inch high definition navigation system that uses SD cards instead of the HDD is optional. All models receive more sound insulation and 2014 models get the 2014 outlanders new steering wheel. ES and SE prices increase by $300. Looks like the LE trim is no more but it is replaced by a premium package option on SE models that retain the power drivers seat and upgraded interior materials. Well, I look forward to seeing your post on the 2016 Outlander Sport in 2015 when the next gen version is supposed to make a global debut, as Mitsubishi has no interest in putting a turbo (the Ralliart power train) in this vehicle. As explained at MOD 2012 it would be way too expensive and not even remotely fuel efficient. But hey, there's always v2.0 come 2015
I'm regretting not just waiting a few months and having picked up the Santa Fe sport with the 2.0 Turbo. Slightly bigger than the OS and a hellava lot more power. (even the 2.4 version spanks the OS, and they are getting GOOD mileage.
Oh well, It's doing the job so far, so unless the wife really likes the size and function of everything, I think we're keeping it for a year and seeing if she wants to keep it, or trade it off the Hyundai, or another Jeep.
Honestly, I can't see why they don't pull more power out of this thing or offer a 2.4 version that would take less throttle input to get it going. Cruising mileage means nothing if your overall mpg's SUCK!

Interesting side note: Not only does the Outlander Sport get better EPA fuel economy estimates than the Santa Fe Sport 2.0T, so does everything else in its class with forced induction!
2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T 6A w/ AWD
19 City/ 24 Highway
2013 Ford Escape Ti 2.0T 6A w/ AWD
21 City/ 28 Highway
2013 Subaru Forester 2.0T CVT w/ AWD
23 City/ 28 Highway
FWD on the SF raises it to 20/27... but FWD on the Escape Ti raises it to 22/30. And the Forester still nets better economy even with AWD. LOL @ Hyundai
