Talking New to the group

I just picked this up a beautiful Pearl White ES/2WD 2 weeks ago and I've already put over a thousand miles on it. I read all the reviews about it being sluggish and to be honest I haven't had any issues entering the freeways up here in Washington where allowing oncoming traffic to merge is a foreign concept. She gets up to 60 quick and if you not paying attention she'll sneak up to 75 on you without you knowing. The ride is smooth and it doesn't bounce around too much when the roads get bad. The 2wd is pretty sure footed, last weekend I was headed to work in a rainstorm and most of the freeway was a river but not once did she feel unstable or not surefooted. I've owned quite a few jeeps in my life but this is my first Mitsubishi and I love it so far can't wait to see how this new chapter in CUV owning plays out.

Welcome!

Interesting.. I see they are offering color-keyed door moldings/protectors now!

Thank y'all for the welcomes. I've been really impressed at the mpgs ,I like the driving position and I like how when I want to I can zip in cans out of traffic. Another thing that surprised me was how solid the doors sound when you shut them.

a. You'll have to shot some photos of your cluster MPG. I'd be interested to see what the '14 are getting.

b. Hmmm.. I'll have to question you on that one. Either everyone around your part of the woods drive at the posted Speed Limit or they just tend to drive very slow. i have a hard time believing you can "zip and out" of traffic at will. I've have vid of the knuckle-heads that drive out here and it's not easy to try and keep up, let alone zip in or out savely.

But, that's just me.

c. Must be the extra insulation Mitsu claimed to have installed.
Our doors sound and feel so light, we have to pay extra attention when opening them during windy days as to prevent them from being blown wide open when parking next to other vehicles... But, that's just another issue.

Be nice if Mitsu could have installed some extra sound damping in the floor boards to start, though. That's where I would want them, so I wouldn't have to rip up the carpeting to do it myself.

(1) I'll grab a pic on the ride home.. But I think last time I looked it was about 29.7 with a hour and half of stop and go driving on the way to work.

(2) No that's the thing up here in Washington they all drive like they are the only one on the road, blinkers are rare, and merging is war... So for the Sport to be able to handle that I'm impressed...I'm not saying it's a Porsche Cayenne turbo but it's significant to get to 60 as quick as needed and when your not paying attention on the open road it will sneak up to 75 without you knowing.

(3) yeah that was one of the things that surprised me was the heft of the sound of the door when you shut it. Yeah I haven't noticed much road noise at all to tell you the truth but I will pay closer attention

Also remember I'm about 200 pounds lighter without the AWD.

Thanks for the welcomes, it's cool to find a site that specifically for the Sport I had almost giving up, I had been looking before I bought mine hoping to see what real owners thought. After seeing some bad reviews I started to see more positive than negative comments and add that with some of the videos that members posted from different venues really helped with my decision. Thanks again and happy motoring.

Mpg

Here are two pics of the MPG, the first one is going straight home from work 23 miles in stop and go traffic and the second is Driving 8 miles in the city taking kids to school where one school sits on top of a ridge then to work so about 31 total miles of mixed driving. On the first road trip we took which was about 230 miles round trip through some elevated areas I averaged about 31, next road trip I will get a picture of it. I forgot to take pictures of the average speed I was driving when the two pics were taking but if I had to guess it would be about 30-40 mph.

Not bad. impressive actually.
That's just about what we achieved out the gate with our original Silver Outlander Sport.

However, we have NOT been able to get near 30, let along 31 in our Black O.sport > Even though we're already passed 16,600 on the ODO.

And, I can't account for anything (that much different) we're doing now then compared to before...That would cause us to stay only in the low to mid 20MPGs.

Thanks for all the welcomes. So today I saw my first Sport on the road it was that Hot Red.. That's the first one I've seen on the road, are we really that rare? People are sleeping on the Sport.. But at the same time I like not seeing them everywhere I turn like that damn Ford Escape.. They are literally everywhere..

Like a horde of locusts!

However, I'll give them one thing... They do have MORE engine options than us!

But, the looks was altered too much from the concept version - It went from this (sweet ) >

They really did have something going with this design. Shaved door handles, thin window seals/pillars, sharp headlights, and those monster 20" wheels. Talk about ground clearance.
