Lobby K&N for air filter thread for 13-14's
In addition to filling out K&N's product request, I would like to start a petition of sorts to help get their attention. Once we get enough requests going, I plan on contacting them directly and emailing them a link to this thread. Hopefully this will demonstrate demand for the panel air filter. Please sign away. Please refer to my beginning sentence.
im just buying a regular intake.... the panel filter is not worth the wait or money at this point to me.
Also has anyone with a 2013-14 tried a older model airbox which takes the same filters as the evo, this would open up so much. I would rock a foam panel filter in a older airbox. if anyone has their intake pipe and box from a pre2013 model OS let me know and I will gladly test to see if it bolts in without issue.

Initial contact with K&N was rather disappointing. Here is the info I received from the rep:
"I am sorry but we do not have information on if or when we will have an air filter for that vehicle. R&D does not release that information and I do not show we are looking for that vehicle at this time. If you have any further questions, please reply to this email or contact Customer Support at 800-858-3333."

On another note, what is the deal with this airbox that is so different? All the aftermarket manufacturers list their filters to fit 2011-2014. When I look up an oem air filter for 2014, none of the Mitsubishi online parts places have one listed. Am I missing something? Does a 2011 filter fit in a 2014 box?

The reason why the 2011-2012 WON'T fit the 2013-2014's is because of :
1. size & shape of the "updated" airbox
2. THIS >
aka "diaper filter"

The edge-thickness looks right, BUT the "large curve"-corner** is missing on the K&N... Look at my photo of the OEM filter and compare for yourself.
Granted it could be just a generic photo from K&N, but it is by far the closest thing I'm seen.
Maybe you should order it and see... and report back
