Security (Glass protectant) film
Due to our extra large panoramic glass roof.. thought about "protecting" it some what better, especially against Texas size hail.
Saw this stuff -

Just wondering IF anyone has used such a product on automotive windows/glass before and any feedback on their effectiveness.
It suppose to make glass as tough as this >

I rather carry a roll up rubber mat in the trunk if hail is such a real hazard down there. At least it would completely protect the glass, instead of just preventing it from shattering into pieces.

However, if you ever seen how unpredictable spring storms are here AND if you're stuck in traffic - just how bad rush hour is on the expressways...
Not much in the way of stopping and trying to install/activate those things on the highways. The other drivers here will probably try to plow right through you thinking you're just a piece of tarp - if you tried to cover your vehicle with those things, by the side of road.
I'm not even kidding. Here's just one example that was caught on camera, but I see this often enough to know better.
I mainly want to give ourselves a better chance to make it out of such a storm (if/when we're caught in one) to not have the roof completely shatter and shower us (my wife and/or baby) with glass shards.

Just a taste of Texas grade hail...
Recently here in Dallas -
The baby stuff in the beginning > The BIG stuff starts @ 1:03 mark...
If you're caught driving in this, you're going to have a slightly bad day.
(wear a hard-hat.)

Holy schnikees! That's crazy! I've never experienced hail, and looks like that could be my worst nightmare. Hope you don't ever have to go through that while in traffic.

We have!
That's what worries me.
> but, we just never been in it with a vehicle that has practically the whole roof as GLASS...
I don't ever want to find out, neither.
But, as you know - once you think "never", it'll probably getcha when you're least prepared... So, I'm definitely thinking about it now, before hand.
Perhaps a combination of this security film and some kind of plexiglass "shield" that's molded to the aerodynamic shape as our roof. - Like a super large version of the window vents' material or some such...

Luckily I was able to avoid this coming home today!
I'm getting the feeling this season's going to be rough...

Luckily for us we were already home by the time the storms rolled in.
But, the folks just north of us (around Denton), got a Pounding!
