I'm not really a fun of smoking, whether it's the head lights, tail lights or in your case, the side turn-signal lamps. I want to maximize my lighting -- that's why I spent a fortune on a proper HID retrofit -- and smoked lenses will defeat the purpose. But to each his own.

Ok I agree and dont agree, lol. I do lighting and wrapping lights. I ran my gen coupe with wrapped smoked tails, but I did a full LED conversion (about $350 retail for the whole setup of just LEDS) for the stock bulbs, and actually they were as bright if not brighter than stock. If your going to smoke a lens do a wrap, its cheap, protects it, removeable and its a even coat unlike a spray and put some brighter bulbs in them!

Sidemarkers you cant replace the bulbs on these models.

As for smoking headlights this is a no no in my book. this is a dumb idea. Im all for a clean painted inner housing but nothing that would destroy light output up front.

Yes I agree smoking can hinder normal lights or the OEM light output and should be avoided. When doing a modification to a light or lens you need to plan ahead and save for some brighter bulbs to keep light output up!

Sidenote Im working on a HID reverse light setup.

I'm actually contemplating it. I still need to find out if the reverse lamps light up when going from Park to Drive on automatic ASXs, because if it does, that could shorten the life of the bulbs.
I also need to decide if it's practical since HID bulbs need time to reach full brightness.
Anyway, I just ordered a pair of "80w" LEDs and will probably go the HID route if these don't cut it.

There are tons of them on Ebay -- HID kits with 15-watt bulbs.

Uhm...
80W!!! LEDs???, is that a misprint?
I hope there's a massive heatsink already attached to those circuits... or you'll see a very short-lived light unit. THAT or a melted light housing, especially if you try to cram it into the small reverse light housing of ours.

You got LINK?

Just for Reference...
Here is a LED that's rated for 10W.. - Just look at the heatsink on this puppy! >

Not for reverse lighting. < Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it's 16 Cree LEDs per bulb but actual power consumption is only 9 watts.
About the HID kits on Ebay, they are specifically made for reverse lamps that's why each bulb is only 15 watts.
