[Off Topic] TESLA Vehicles Gallery (Dallas,TX)

So we checked out the newest Tesla vehicle showroom here in Texas (within the Northpark Mall, right next to a Starbucks & Armani Exchange), that just opened its doors yesterday.

Very exciting technology and the vehicle is not too shabby neither.

Baby approves!

The Flux Capacitor...

I'm checking out the stitchings

I've driven both the 65kw and the 85kw battery and the 85kw is FAST! The technology is amazing you don't ever actually start the car it just is on once you get in the car. And since it has no conventional drivetrain the dynos on these cars mean they Dyno the numbers they are advertised with. So awesome

It's amazing to see how few major "component" structures that make up the car... Front & Rear subframe (including suspension and motor assemblies, center battery casing/structural-rail, and body(including all interior bits)

I'll have to post some of the underpinning photos (of the model S) later.
Quite surprising and Impressive to see in person.

Unfortunately, Texas dealer laws prevents Tesla from giving test drives or free Demo vehicles... Lame!
So, until I find a nice friend who has a Tesla, I will not be able to experience the amazing performance in person.

>> Apparently, my wife's office building has two Tesla owners... I'm going to have to find out who they are and take them out to lunch sometime.

That's going to extremes.
But, they are coming out with an SUV Tesla called the "X", so you'll have plenty of room for that cot if you wish.

Their computer rendering

Actual vehicle (pretty darn close to concept art.)

Check out those ultra tiny side mirrors (cameras..)

What's really interesting and will blow your hair back is the "motor"...

That little "cylinder" only weights 70lbs.. but, can produce 362 hp (270 kW) and 325 ft·lb (440 N·m) on the BASE model.
On the performance model S, it can crank out 416 hp (310 kW) and 443 ft·lb (600 N·m)

And, for their Model X SUV they plan to have TWO of those - one in the front and one in the rear for AWD.

Can you imagine driving around a SUV with nearly 832HP (with 886ft.lb of instant torque from just 1+ RPM) stock... With No mods?

But, I'm not too sure about the sheet metal of the X for the rear quarter... it looks too much like the Porsche Panamera >
