Cool My lights setup

Hi all,

I just want to share my light system. Since I live in Puerto Rico is not very usual to get pull over for having modified lights, so far I have never been pullover and my lights are really really bright. My system have the following:

Lows: H11 Cree XM L2 2000lm per bulb 6000k
Highs: 9005 HID 55 watts 6000k, I will change this to XM L2 during next week
Fogs: H11 HID 55 watts 6000k, I will change this to XM L2 too
Corners: T10 Samsung Chip SMD LED 6000K
DRLs (above headlights): FlexFireLeds Industrial Ultra Bright, Bright White
Signals: 720 Lumen 7440 Samsung Chip SMD LED 6000K - This are modified with a custom circuit to stay on when parking lights are on but signal still working. If off signal will turn on, If on signals will turn off.

For the DRLs I had to put them looking down under the hood attached to it for heat dissipation trough the aluminum. Good thing about this is that engine get completely illuminated if I open the hood in the dark.

This are only the Fogs, DRLs, Corners and Signals:

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for sharing your light mods!

I have two questions -
1. Did you fabricate the custom circuit for your turn signals to do that or someone else? It's very cool.

2. And, did you use the stock fog light housing to mount your HID?
If so, have you notice any heat issues - is it very hot or about the same with the stock bulbs?

Or,
Is it a completely different housing that came with the HID lights??

Thanks in advance.

I created the circuit using a pair or relays on each side. Here is the diagram, also I had to add a load resistor afterward and that is not represented but is it fair easy.

For the fogs I did used the stock housing. Heat is a quite more than stock but not enough to cause any issues. The only concern is the reflector getting yellowish due to the HID radiation but that will be gone once I completely switch to XM L2 led bulbs.

This are the ones I am testing on the low beams and just ordered for fogs and highs.

Very Nice.
Great schematics.

Some followup questions -
1. Standard 20A relays?
2. And, did you have to cut the original connector/wiring harness to splice your circuit in, OR did you find an aftermarket connector(s) to tap in your custom circuit?

Regarding Fogs-
I'd imagine there be more heat involved with the stock housing.
I'm in the process of finding a replacement of my OEM fogs because of road damage. I'm debating on if I should try to find a salvaged housing (so I can go with some LED solution) or go with a complete aftermarket HID retrofit.

Thanks for the reference Link to XMs.

Great setup. I too had the cree Led lights on the low beam but I found them to be dimmer than regular hid. I got a basic 35w 6000k and they're way better and brighter for me. I also did hid on the fog lights. I went with 3000k on these to get the yellow look. They are very bright, maybe too bright but they help me see better. I like what you did with the signals. I just changed mine to led and was thinking to do this same thing. Thanks for the diagram. I like your drl setup too. I was gonna do something like that but I was gonna go with the lights on top of the headlamps. Instead I ordered a fog lamp bezel from China with built in drl. Gonna make a thread about these. Good job on the setup.

So, how much room (depth) do we have behind the Fog bezel? Especially on the driver side since we have the CVT cooler in there also.

I think I'm leaning towards the HID method but I need to switch out the stock fog light housing and most of the aftermarket units looks pretty deep ~ around 6"...

Yeah I was worried they wouldn't fit but there's plenty of room. I was able to tie down the ballast back there with ease. When you take the plastic bezel off you will see how much room there is. It just pops off. There's a screw at the bottom that you can see with the bezel on, this screw is for adjustment of the fog lights not to remove the bezel.

Yes I just used standard 20 amp. Its been 2 years and no issues sor far.

For the connection I just took apart some code cancelers and uses the couplers. This way everything can be set up to stock in no time if needed.

Also I just notice that these are available for fog drls on 13 models and later. Does anyone have these yet? Would like some reviews.

Where these leds XM l2 chip? Because any other chip is not worth it. Also you have to make sure the light spread its correct. You may need to rotate the bulb or attache it in a different manner. For me it has been the brightest bulbs so far

I don't think they were. You're right about the light spread I though about that every time I had them on. But I couldn't rotate it because they only fit one way. I'm happy with the hid kit though.

Don't want to be the party pooper here, but I would be annoyed to be blinded by those HIDs unless you're using proper projectors.

It does not blind incoming traffic. protectors have a pretty clean cut off.

What type of projectors are you using for the fog lamps? How about for high beams? The reason I ask is I bought a pair of projector-type fog lamps on Ebay and they were no good, I ended up throwing them away. A photo of your light throw/cutoff would be nice.

I have to admit my fog lights are pretty bright. Sometimes I get flashed without having my high beams on. So going hid on the fogs probably not good. The headlamp projectors do a good job though. With the hid kit you can see a definitive cut off. I have hids for the high beams too. All in the stock oem lamps. I have the regular halogen lamps.
