Remote Stater Question

Why is it that the remote start, starts the engine, then as soon as you get to the vehicle and unlock the door it shuts off? Wouldn't it make sense that it stays running when you get to the vehicle? Is there any way to make it stay running, when you do unlock the doors?

This is the factory remote start system on a 2015 mitsu outlander sport

Are you using the SMART key to unlock your doors?

If so, instead use the Remote Start fob to unlock the doors. That should solve your issue.
Let us know.

It has unlock and lock on the side of the fob, on the remote start, but these are to lock the remote, so you don't accidentally hit the buttons while in your pocket. I did start it remotely and try to use the remote key fob, by pressing the unlock icon and nothing. Used the Smart key (if that is what you are calling the key less entry) and soon as I hit the unlock on it, it shuts off.

Here is the remote I have: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131349326355?lpid=82

Ok.
If I'm not mistaken... You're suppose to unlock the doors with the same Remote Start fob - While the vehicle is still running, walk up to the driver's door & hit the start again and it should unlock the door.

>> Please read the User's Manual BEFORE you do that, Just to confirm that is correct. I will not be responsible for breaking your fob or engine/starter.

This didn't work either. Thanks for the info.
I have the manual on the remote and it doesn't say anything about how to keep it running. All it says is "if you open a door, hood, hatch or unlock the engine shuts off" Just doesn't make sense to me that you warm it up and it runs for 10min or so and you walk out to get in, shuts off then you have to restart it.

Those are nice, but all aftermarket. I really don't want to go with an after market setup since this was factory installed. Thanks!

Perhaps it's something the dealer needs to switch on to fix that problem.

just picked up a 2015 OS yesterday, has the manufacturer remote start... they mentioned that any door access will kill the remotely started engine- safety feature

of course I'd be interested in learning a legit loophole to that

Personally I'd want the engine to turn off when a door was opened, stops thieves that look out for remote started cars in winter..

Anyone installed an after market one? I wouldn't mind adding this to mine.

There is no way to get the car to stay on as far as I am aware. I spent a huge amount of time trying to get this to work for mine as well, and was unable to ever find a way.

I agree..but, if the doors are locked and also it is going to only run for a max of 30min then it will shut off. Plus if they don't have the key, once they stop, then what?

I think it is very annoying that it shuts off when, unlocking the car, or opening the doors. At first didn't even know that it was installed. The dealer didn't mention it and I didn't notice it.

I have a solution ::
Go ahead and remote-start your vehicle as you would normally.
then once your ready to go >

Attempt the DoH** method -
Get yourself a running start... and leap up over&into the driver side window.
Don't even bother with unlocking and opening that silly door.
Like a Boss.

**Dukes of Hazzard. Daisy Duke approves this method.

PS: Make sure you roll down the window first. (For your safety.)
