Question for 2015 Outlander Sport Owners.

Hey y'all!

First post on this site. I have a question for the 2014/2015 Outlander Sport owners.

1. Would you buy your OS again if you had to do all over again?

2. Has there been any issues with the 2014/2015 OS, such as any major engine or transmission issues? Anything in general that is a common problem with these model year OS's?

The reason I'm asking is I am about to purchase one in the next few days. Undecided between OS 2015 SE AWC and Toyota Rav 4 2015 Limited.

Does OS 2015 have the option for blindspot monitoring and homelink?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Andrea

I just got my first OS. 2014 SE with RF and Nav, AWC.
I like everything except the lack of power. It almost makes me regret the decision, but it's the wife's vehicle so I don't drive it daily. Other than that I really like the features, handling, looks, etc.
I don't believe it has blindspot monitoring or homelink options. Ours doesn't and it's pretty loaded however it's not the limited model. The limited model might have the options you're looking for. I was slightly disappointed by it not having homelink.
I'm still partial to having the screen with navigation and such. There's too many options they turn off when the vehicle is in motion.
I used to like pushbutton start vehicles but after owning one I'm not a fan at all.

Also, I'm a Toyota owner and probably always will be. I looked at the Rav 4 but wasn't a fan of how they look and I think they were a little more in price.
Don't forget that the Mitsu warranty is one of if not the best in the industry. To me that's extremely important.

I have a 2015 and I'm loving it.

For the price point, warranty coverage and features it's hard to make a comparison to another model.

The power is a little low, (this should perform better with the new 2.4L that's coming in a few months) but beyond that I really like how it performs as my everyday vehicle.

The option alone to switch from 2WD to 4WD etc. was a major decision for myself.

Good luck!

We shopped (on and off) for over 11 months back in 2012.. tried and test drove every micro to mid size CUV/SUV on the market. Finally, we settle onto a Brand new 2013 Outlander Sport SE AWD (in Silver)...

It has everything we (I) felt necessary in safety features -
1. AWD (Full time and Auto-mode, with the ability to switch to dedicated FWD with a single switch)
2. Xenon headlights (my wife has alittle night blindness, so these lights help greatly.)
3. Full independent suspension with 4 wheel disc brakes.
4. 10 year engine & trans warranty. For the extra peace of mind.

... Unfortunately, another driver didn't like our vehicle's rearend and decided to give it a facelift, at expressway speeds.
So, on that day we found out -
5. This CUV is damn tough!

Afterwards we revisited some of the other SUVs that we looked at before but for the price and value, we came right back to the Mitsu O.Sport, in fact we got the exact same one 2013 SE AWD, just in Black.
(they didn't have another Silver on hand.)

Only complaint that can't be resolved with warranty coverage..
> a bit weak on power - in standard automatic mode.

You can over come it somewhat by going "manual mode" with the paddle shifters, but my wife just can't seem to get it right -on when to shift- while concentrating on merging into crazy urban traffic.

+1
Just picked one up less than a week ago - comparably equipped CRV, RAV and CX5 were nowhere near the price range we got ours for.

I have a 14, and my mother recently bought a 15 because she liked mine so much.

I absolutely love it, just wish I would've gotten the pano roof with leather... which brings me to my next point. My next new car will probably be a fully loaded OS, I'd buy it now but I don't wanna throw myself under a car haha

I agree on the power remarks, but that's not really what I bought it for. Amazing little suv for the price, and if you can utilize the "shifting" feature, it actually does get some decent pick-up for passing situations.

I'd give both a spin and see which one drives better for you, after all, you'll be driving it everyday

Let us know if you pick one up though!

I have had my 2014 OS SE AWD for almost a year now ...would I do it again ....yes its a good little SUV bit low on power but if you give it break in time and use the flappy paddles to let the rpms get up a bit it goes pretty good . Im the last area at work to get plowed out and have gone thru 2 feet of snow to get to my building with no issues ...needs better tires for those slushy days but if you dont drive like you have never seen snow its not bad

Thumbs up Outlander Sport Vs Toyota RAV 4

Reading from your post, it looks like everyone who owns an OS loves it; Just like everyone who owns a RAV 4.

They are both good and reliable SUVs.

Someone wrote that OS is cheaper; that may be true with the base model (no additional options included). If loaded with options I think their price tag will be similar or maybe a few hundred $ in favor of OS.

I will likely get the 2015 OS SE AWD with Touring package.

From the research I have done so far, here in Colorado, a 2015 OS SE AWD with Touring package cost about the same like a 2015 RAV 4 Limited, which comes standard with almost all the options of the touring package.

The warranty is an added advantage for the OS.

Must be the market up in Colorado..
Cause the price difference is quite dramatic on the Fully loaded AWD models (well at least it was back in 2013). From our negotiating, there was between $5,000 to $7,000 from a Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Toyota when compared to the Mitsu. Some of that difference was from those silly "Dealer Add-ons", but still - over all a big difference.

Any how, that's in the past.
If there is only just a few hundred difference for the 2015s, then certainly I'd suggest you really give both brands a good whipping and test drive both vehicles like you stole them, to really get a solid feel of their capabilities.
Pay close attention to acceleration (on highway on-ramps) and if you can test them in the snow. For the Mitsu, you'll want to switch between the FWD mode and AWD.

Good luck

We also looked at the Toyota . Our deciding factor was in the AWD systems , the Toyota system (we were told by 2 Toyota salesmen.) goes from AWD back to front wheel drive at some where between 18 and 23 miles an hour , the OS system stays in AWD until you take it out and stays in 4x4 locked until 35 mph . With the snow in winter and beach in the summer I needed a AWD system that didn't shut it self off ..

I didn't know the OS stayed locked in awd, that may have swayed my decision a little. I bought the '14 5spd and love it. I went from going to the gas station every 3rd day to once a week or less.

Staying locked in awd is big deal, my previous car was a Murano, wife drives it now. Great car but I couldn't stand the awd system. Even when you click the awd lock button it still goes back to auto (fwd) at 30km/h. In 20 years of driving I've only ended up in a ditch once, going around a corner in this thing and then the rear wheels kicked in a spun me out on black ice.

The OS has been great so far, just wish the heated seat button was relocated and I hit the hazard lights from time to time shifting into 3rd gear. We've been in a deep freeze, -20+ all of Feb, it starts right away everyday and has driven through some pretty deep snow!

we also went to the Hyundai dealership at the time and I remember walking out because they added on a non negotiable dealer package that was $2750.00 which was just their metal dealer badge (which was coming off the second it came off the lot) and a "custom" pin strip down the side....smh. I told them if they removed that the prices were almost equal and we could talk they actually told me they would not and let me leave... I still think it is ridiculous to this day and will never shop at any of the Gay Dealerships anymore.... and no I am not being a homophobic red neck Texan, the dealership is actually owned by the Gay family.

Finally got a 2015 OS SE AWD for 22k (+ taxes) with no added options.
Not a great deal price wise. I think if I had looked around, I could have gotten it for about $500 to $800 less.

It is small nice SUV. Only 30 miles driven, feels good thus far.

Hey everybody, new to the forum here investigating a possible new 2015 Outlander Sport, so I figured I'd bump the thread to see how current 15 OS owners like their cars. The dealers around me have some fantastic deals going on the OS, and with 2 young kids this seems like a perfect fit at the moment, so we're currently looking into one. As always, more options means more decisions, so we're hung up on the 2.0 vs 2.4 and FWD vs AWD. Personally I'd love the 2.4 with AWD but that increases the price a few thousand, and my wife, who would be driving it full time, loves the high gas mileage she gets with her Honda Fit so it would be something of a dropoff mileagewise from what she's used to. Perhaps a 2.0 with AWD would be a good compromise. The wife was even interested in a manual as her Fit is a manual as well. We don't need frills, so looking more at the SE model. I drove the 2.0 with the AC on, and it felt OK but a bit weak, but coming from a Fit it's not too bad. I didn't try it on the highway though. I'd assume in 4WD mode it would be even more weak, but at that point power isn't the issue.

So, questions: How does it handle in the snow in FWD? Chicago doesn't get awful winters but the past 2 have been bad. Is there anything you got that you don't need, or maybe something you didn't you wish you had? How is real world mileage? (I've read the threads on some being disappointed)Anybody get the 2.0 and be disappointed? 2.4 owners how is the real world mileage?

Sorry for the multitude of questions, just trying to gather as much info as I can from those with the actual experience and not the reviewers who seem to love to slam this car for not being a Mazda, Honda or Ford.
