Front Door Sill Scuff Guards vs. Scotchcal
Front Door Sill Scuff Guards vs. Scotchcal
The door sills on my 2011 are still in incredible shape but with the rock/salt we get up here they will likely go to heck in a hand basket this winter. So I wanted to get the RVR door scuff plates. But as expected, the dealer wants a zillion dollars for a set and the foreign sources either say Outlander Sport (for about $200 CAD) or ASX for less. There are no-name knock-offs of course, but they are nothing fancy and I'm concerned about the quality. So I was thinking either clear or white regular Scotchcal (or heavier 12mm like for fogs). That way I could only do the front door sills. Anyone do this?
How about this for $23.50+free shipping. It says RVR.

I did not buy any of those but bought stainless steel door panel armrests. The material is OK but you may have to reinforce the glue even if it says 3M.

Thanks. Hard to believe I can get a full set for $23 bucks US, shipped. I hope it is not a case of "too good to be true".
I wasted $25 bucks in worse ways. Although the cheapest ones appear to b knock-offs while the ones twice the price look like the factory version. Another $35 bucks though. Interestingly I called the local 3M place - the material to do for sills would cost me more than the SS plates! Installed... well, you don't want to know what they are asking. But if these SS ones are crap I'll resell them (before install of course) and just run a few 3" strips of clear Scotchcal. Thanks again for the links!!!

So I put in a bid for one of the OEM scuff plate sets as shown up in the thread, and got it! About $75 CAD with shipping. For fellow Canucks, these things cost over $220 at the dealers! I am feeling fat and sassy right about now....
I installed these on my 2015 OS GT . they where much thicker then I thought they would be . Now name on them Took about 15 days to get them . http://www.ebay.com/itm/8PCS-steel-door-sill-scuff-plate-Guards-Mitsubishi-ASX-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-/371308111815?vxp=mtr
Those are pretty sweet - and a good deal to boot! The ones I opted for are the OEM (from Japan) just to stay with the RVR nameplate. But if I was not hung up on that fact your choice would be great. Plus you get the other bits.
