Black out the front cross bar?

Hey guys...I'd like to black out that stupid front cross bar on my OS...it's silver right now. My old eclipse was all blacked out and it looked like a screaming demon with a huge mouth in the rear view...I'd like that look for my OS. I'd also like to move the license plate off to the side.

Has anyone done this and know how the front bumper comes off?

Or maybe just tape and spray...

Tape n spray. Plastic dip so it's easy to remove if you choose to!

Which would hold up to road debris better? I'm interested in blacking out mine as well, but with living in the midwest I'm unsure how either would hold up to salt and such during the winters.

I had the wrap on and the only reason I switched back was because a rock it, in of all places the hole where the license plate screw was and ripped the wrap, so I took it off and plasti dipped it gun metal grey like my wheels. and plasti dipped the 2 whole plugs I put in as well.

I have plasti-dip on my rims, and vinyl on my front bumper, and I would say the vinyl will protect much, much better than plasti-dip. Unless you do a ridiculous amount of coats of plasti-dip, it's still just a coat of paint at the end of the day. The vinyl is a solid sheet, which would hold up to small road debris quite well. If you're really concerned about front end protection, look into a DIY, or ideally professional, clear bra (I know 3M makes one, I'm sure others do as well).

I used vinyl wrap initially, but it eventually peeled off after exposure to rain. I used Plasti Dip afterwards and it has stayed on for the past two years. You need to use 4-5 coats to keep it resistant to the elements.

High quality vinyl - 3M Scotchcal will last for ages. My 13 yr old van's 3M is fine other than a few boulder hits. No yellowing either.

the timing controller is just going to bump your timing 3 degrees and make you run premium, it is not the same as getting a specific tune on your ride, I see your in Texas, I know Amarillo is not too close to Houston but if you are in town ever you might just stop by MDR and they can flash tune your O.S. to my tune, the mods would be the same that you are planning on running.

Amarillo is like on the other side of the world from Houston lol

We have a shop here that can tune the OS. I was talking to the dealer's tech when they were doing my maintenance and they said there's a guy in town who has turbocharged his OS, they see it all the time and the transmission's doing fine, and that Boost Performance in Amarillo can tune it how I want.

I don't want to win races, I just want to merge more effectively on the highway.

I don't think I'll get the timing controller then, I don't want to put premium fuel in unless I'm running a turbo.

I think I'll get a V8 truck or an old eclipse - maybe both - to play with, rather than spend a fortune on mods for the OS. I'll just get the intake, pulley, and header/exhaust. Turbos are 4-5k and I could easily get a truck AND eclipse for that.
