[Off Topic] mini pool/spa
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Hope you all have a safe and Wonderful Holiday Season.

Got a question for those of you who has a pool -
What is the real cost of maintaining it year round?

Have anyone ever own a saltwater pool/spa? How difficult is it to upkeep this type of pool? What are the pitfalls or item(s) to watch out for, if any..
I'm willing to learn everything that's necessary and to maintain it myself, so please school me on the technicals and give any firsthand details.

I have a regular hot tub. Takes 5-10 min a week to maintain it. Drain and fill every month or two. Takes an hour. A buddy has a saltwater hot tub - way less maintenance than that! I would go saltwater for sure - much easier on the skin and the environment although I know nothing about specific maintenance issues.

I see..
Thank you for your input.
Well, I suppose I'll learn as I go, but mainly wanted to hear if there's any issue(s) that I may have to pay close attention to... to prevent any expensive mistakes in the long run. (Since this will be our very first pool.)

cost wise like around 40 a month on the electric bill, maintenance wise not every much, 4 times a year I pull the filters out and give them a good cleaning, and weekly we have a guy from the local pool supply store come out and keep the chemicals correct, we pay an extra 30 a month for that. It is not as much of a lazy thing for us as it is a safely thing handling the chemicals with our 3 young kids in the house. Plus it saves us from having to buy pool chemicals and storing them. Our pool has a dark blue bottom so it stays warmer longer and warms up faster, and we use it a lot!!! only down side to a dark bottom pool is the water in the middle of the hot summer is not cool and refreshing it is always a bit warm, but that is our trade off for being able to have a longer swim season with the girls.

Good idea on hiring someone to do the chemicals. I was wondering about that, but it seems we only need to keep a few bags of salt - in our case.

Side question -
Do you/did you have a pool fence installed for your pool to protect your little ones?
We haven't gotten any estimates yet, just wondering how much we should expect (to budget) on a custom fence.
