Auto-folding mirror - winter operation

Although the cold winter is over for most of us for this season this info might be useful for those, who have auto-folding mirrors.
I gathered from multiple forum sites that the mirrors can freeze in winter and when you approach the car and unlock it the mirror folding mechanism may get damaged when it attempts to unfold. It might be useful to disable the auto-folding function for winter.
