ABS light on after wheel bearing replaced.
ABS light on after wheel bearing replaced.
Last week, I had a wheel bearing and tie rod replaced as a rattling noise could be heard from the front passenger side when accelerating.
Since the replacement the noise has disappeared but the ABS light is on. I thought this would go away after a couple of miles as the ECU relearns due to the new bearing. However it it is still there after driving 200 km or so.
After a quick google search, the issue is most likely two things; the wheel bearing could have been installed backwards or the other wheel bearings need to be replaced due to the ECU seeing difference in signal strength between the old and new abs wheel speed sensors.
Is there a quick way to determine if the sensor was installed backwards without taking it all apart? How would you approach this issue?

I don't think they can be installed backwards can they? I haven't pulled or really inspected mine but I thought they fitted into a little housing or something....could be wrong. Maybe that sensor is bad or simply wasn't plugged back in or installed back into place?
- Do not disassemble the rear wheel hub assembly.
- The wheel speed detection magnetic encoder collects metallic particles easily, because it is magnetized. Make sure that the magnetic encoder should not collect metallic particles. Check that there is not any trouble prior to reassembling it.
- When the rear wheel hub assembly is removed/installed, make sure that the wheel speed detection magnetic encoder (integrated with inner oil seal) does not contact with surrounding parts to avoid damage.
- When removing and installing the rear wheel speed sensor, make sure that its pole piece at the end does not contact with surrounding parts to avoid damage.
