Hello All, We are some of very few that don't use their Outlander Sport much, How often should it be driven? Since retiring We don't run around nearly as much as we used to. We will drive at most 3,000 -5,000 mi a year. We do get the Outlander Sport out at least once a week and drive it 25 miles or more and make sure 10 to 15 of those miles are freeway miles.
We do get the car up to 70- 75 mph. We live 1 mile from the freeway so that makes access to it easy. There are those occasions that we do use it more often. Seems though, since retiring, we have cut back on driving. I want to keep this Outlander Sport for a long time and don't want to let it sit more than 3 or 4 days. Smart idea??
It is a 2019 and we do keep it in a garage and are in Florida. The OS won't see any weather-related issues when parked. I am pretty meticulous and don't want it sitting too long.
The picture was taken today which is 10 days after we bought it 275 miles on it now, freshly waxed with Turtle Wax Carnuba cleaner wax and Maguires Hybrid ceramic spray wax. We are very happy with this OS and the paint really shines. I highly recommend Maguires Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax. .
any thoughts? we hope to make this one last a long time!
With your usage on the lower end of the spectrum I think it would be important the times you do drive are long enough to get everything up to operating temperature for at least 1/2 hr. Engines, transmissions, fuel tanks will all accumulate moisture especially in a hot humid environment like Florida. You want to have the engine and drive train warm enough long enough to evaporate any moisture. You should be fine but I might run it a little longer than 25 miles a week. Ethanol blended fuel starts to go bad in about 90 days so running it enough to burn enough fuel to warrant filling up would be important.

Yea Inuvik we do make sure it gets at least 25 miles we usually end up putting on 300 or more miles a month. I also am sure to use the a/c and being in Florida it is used often I also don't jump right on the freeway I get a good 10 miles out before we run the freeway. And there are times we do go 200 miles out to head to the beach. So we do run the car but also there are weeks we don't go much and that is when I am careful not to let it sit in the garage for more than a few days.
I am still very surprised at the not so kind reviews on the Outlander Sport. I find it very comfortable, easy to drive, great on gas and a very good looking vehicle. The base model has everything we need.
Do you remember the days Inuvik when a base model meant no a/c, roll-up windows a vinyl interior that your butt stuck to as well as no cruise control or power steering and no radio> or at best a am radio? and crummy "cheap " hub caps!
Now fast forward 40 years my "base" no optioned Outlander has cruise, auto climate control a/c power windows, mirrors. locks and 18-inch stylish rims and a great sound system . My Outlander Sport has everything I need so for a no optioned vehicle I could not be happier.

I know what you mean! The base model has everything I needed also. It's a great vehicle and it's too bad it doesn't get better press.
