The trunk is 1 lb lighter (seibon vs stock) in Carbon Fiber... Add paint and it's a wash. The reason you have to paint the damn trunk is because it looks like your car's been wrecked with an unpainted CF trunk. The panel doesn't match. Why not put a red trunk on a blue car, or black hood on a silver car? Because it looks ghetto and wrecked, that's why!

^^ I'll be the first to admit I don't do well at the 'show' parts...Just my first instinct seeing any unpainted body panels is 'wrecked', and I know a lot of people buy parts before they price how much a professional paint job costs, so CF pieces often go 'unpainted' just because of that.

for our silver cars though i think carbon fiber make good accent pieces. like lips and sideskirts and such. just more of the little things not as much of the bigger parts like the trunk and stuff..
i like how most of the guys who are saying something has a silver car lol

like jakes car. i think it'd look even more sexy with a cf hood.
white cars going with the panda look is always nice but played out
and red cars IMHO are always a good match for CF stuff.

Not for argument sake, but the seibon trunk we just took off Jake's car was a hell of a lot lighter than 1 lb. I would say it was at least 7 or 8lbs lighter. Even on my car without a wing the carbon trunk was quite a bit lighter.....
I hate anything composite painted. It just never looks right.

Actually on an VIII it saves a comparable amount of weight. I know its not like 50lbs but to some 10+ is alot of weight to be taken out of a track car. Eventually someday I will more than likely put a CF roof on. But a CF and/or aluminum drive shaft, sure would come before that, even though its 2x as much $$$$

I have to differ on the 'carbon on black'. Once that carbon gets faded, it looks terrible (that's where I am right now). Cleaned up and kept nice though, I think carbon looks great as long as you match it with something else on the car (carbon with black wheels always looks great).
