What a coincidence, I have the same issue, and have been scouring the forum for some answers!

Bump to the top for you!

You should not have to wire the amp to the deck. There is an adapter to connect your stock amp to an aftermarket deck. I've done this with my SSL.

What is the model of deck (help me to find which adapter you need)?
How do you know it works? From another car, or it's working in your evo?

Hey,

I'll have to open up the connections to check what's behind. My evo had an Alpine 9883 installed when I purchased it. I realised the sub isn't working when I removed the sub last weekend, and there was no change in quality of my music!

Yeah, the stock sub is pretty easy to notice. Make sure to check the connection between the stock amp and sub (under drivers seat).

That deck you have should have the standard RCAs outputs in back to attached the adapter.

It's the adapter on the left. The round black side goes to the stock amp, and the 4 RCAs go to the deck.

Thanks. I'll check this out. If I have this type of adapter and the connections are good, what's the next thing I should check?

Not sure if the stock amp has fuses on it or in the fuse box, but check those. Check all the connections from amp to sub (I can only remember 2, on amp and right above where the sub is). Also check to make sure the sub isn't blown (damaged).
