True, however think about the 5ish years you save on the paint from wear, chips, sun (not as prevelant here as in other parts of the country), etc... Odds are most people wont even keep their car for that long, and if you do, you are only protecting your investment. I would much rather pay 2-3k now than 12k down the road for a full paint job. Just my opinion tho.

Look at it this way, if you pay a shop to do it, you are helping to stimulate the economy, its a win win.

Very true spend it how you see fit. I am just a hardcore DIYer so it just seems a waste to me to pay someone to do something if you are capable of doing or learning to do it yourself. Guess it has something to do with the pride of being able to say "I built that".

Oh and their is nothing wrong with stimulating the economy, don't want to sound like a complete donkey.

I did that with my DSM, and while I don't mind tinkering and building the car up with my son, there are just certain things I like to leave to the professionals, or those that are more skilled at it than I. Older and wiser I guess but the whole pride thing for me is knowing that regardless of how I earned it, it was earned honest.

I've learned from alot of mistakes working on my DSM and its a good thing I made them on a chep car vs say my EVO. So I understand what you mean buy leaving it to the professionals but I like to think I am one in training.

DSM's, making mechanics out of everyday people. lol. I would be lieing if I said I didnt learn a lot from wrenching on my talon and my gsx, cause I did, but I also learned that there were some corners I cut that I shoudlnt have, and others that should have cut and didn't. I do some basic things, and I have no doubt I could do the vynil, I honestly just don't have the time with a family of 5, or the patience to spend the hours upon hours needed to complete such a task. It all comes down to preferrance, and I respect both those who do it for a living and those who do it in their own garage. I'm outta here for now, be safe my peeps, and stay classy Seattle.
