Thanks for all the comments everyone! I definitely need to get working on my custom camera slide rail. I figure I can build an automated ball-screw one for less than $200 (which is still far less than the $500 for a non automated one you can buy). It will also be useful for the slo-mo linear movement in time lapses.
I also need a new computer and final cut. I hate you Tony.
