Looking to buy evo in Milwaukie
Hey guys,
I am looking to buy my first evo, however I live in Montana, where there is about 10 in the entire state. Anyways, I am looking at this one for sale in Milwaukie:
http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/3185586961.html
Anyone live close enough around and be willing to potentially go look at it for me? I just would hate to fly down there to buy a car I hadn't seen or someone hadn't checked for me. If anyone could possibly help me out please pm me!
Thanks guys!

Could always see if the seller is willing to take it up to English here in Eastern Vancouver and have them spec it for you. Since they are the ultimate Evo authority, I'd imagine their eyes are far better than anybody elses, IMHO.

The carfax came back very clean. Owner is a 44 year old guy, and has been daily driving it for past 7 years. What stands out to you saying it has had a rough life?

If it were me, and it were my first Evo purchase; I'd be looking for one that was virgin. Most modded Evos have been beat to hell ,regularly, if not on a daily basis. You don't spend 15-20k on turbos and manifolds, etc; if you're going to drive it like Miss Daisy would drive it.
But if you were going to insist on looking into it, I can only again reiterate that having English Racing look at it is your best bet. Lucas and Aaron and the boys know their way around an Evo blindfolded. They'll see things that the average Evo owner would miss.

In my opinion It seems like you could probably find one that has fewer miles, maybe for a little more, but it would probably be worth it.
My thinking is that if that is the original motor, with those mods, it seems like it would have a bit more wear and tear from every day driving than the average evo with less mods.
And like the folks about mentioned, if there was someway that the owner could take it to English Racing, they would definitely be able to help your decision a lot.
But also, if that is too far of a drive, there always is COBB tuning Surgeline.
Which is a lot closer to Milwaukie than English is. Under 20 minutes if I'm not mistaken.
Good Luck!

I'd make him a lower offer. Make sure he's done the timing belt etc and it should most likely have had a clutch by now. I might have missed that if it was listed.
Other than that I don't think it looks bad at all for a 9 year old 108k mile car. Come on people.
Other than that hideous black crap on the rear doors.
A weekend of cleaning and maintenance would do wonders for that car.

Well APEXR went and looked at it for me, he said ran and drove well, pulled fine, no noises, all body panels straight, negatives were those black side spat things, which are apparently made of undercoating/bed liner kind of stuff? Anyone have any idea if that is removable without damaging paint? Also the previous owner removed the evolution badge on the trunk, and it took the clear coat with it, no way to fix that correct without a full respray? The dirt on back of passenger seat is from his bike and wiped right off.
