Seattle or nearby, need help
Hey, I was just wonder if someone in the Seattle area or close that has an evo 9 on Sd tune, LICP, and TBE can meet me. I want to check if your car is fluttering under boost like mine. I was told it's normal on hks and stock bov. I want to make sure it's the bov and not compressor surge. Thanks!
Does it happen at full throttle and part throttle, or just part throttle?
When my DV was set with too stiff of a spring it would flutter if I lightly accelerated under load (think slight uphill) from about 2k - 2.5k RPM. If I punched it, it would be fine
You're going to be hard pressed to figure anything out just based on someone else's car because everything is a variable and it's unlikely someone who has that same BOV and is SD also has this issue simply because they have the same parts on their car

Part throttle, higher gear (4th or 5th) and low rpm it is normal. If you go WOT at low rpm in high gear it is normal. The only way to keep it from happening is to downshift and keep the revs higher. Surge in any form is the car being unable to use the air the turbo provides but has sufficient drive energy to make the turbo want to go nuts (spool). Surge is best likened to the compressor wheel doing a burnout (cavitation) in the air stream because it has more drive energy (horsepower) than the wheel can utilise (traction).
