What brand fuel ???

Just wondering what fuel is the best in this area? I have heard chevron but was wondering about Costco gas or 76 or shell. What do you use and why?

Any Premium 92 octane gas should be fine. If you are tuned to the razors edge where one bad tank of gas could kill your engine you should not be on pump gas anyways.

^agreed. Most of our gas comes from pretty much the same place, but it can be inconsistent.

The concern with top tier vs not isn't so much the octane content as it is the detergents used. Shell, 76, chevron any of them should be fine. I personally have used Shell in my car for about 10 years and have tracked it with no issues.

There is still a lot of debate on the effectiveness of name brand additives vs generic additives (yes all gas now comes with Federally mandated additives).

If you buy into the marketing that ____ brand's additives are better, then buy their product. But scientific proof for most of those claims is virtually non-existent.

Here is an interesting article http://blogs.platts.com/2010/08/23/unbranded_vs_br/

In WA state only 51% of the gasoline is required to be of that "brand" (detergent mixture, etc), most refineries have their "house blend" which comprises nearly 49% of the volume of gasoline on the market in this state as it's cheaper for the big brands to blend than make 100% volume their mixture.
