id turn the boost down, get it richer from 4-5000 rpm, and that should allow you more timing. your way too lean for my blood at peak tq.

id personally also turn the boost down and find something you can hold for a little while, as opposed to a bell curve for boost.

Raptord Nov 1, 2011 08:16 PM

+1 to what the deadly penguin above me said. More fuel from 4-5k should allow you to run more timing, 1-3 degrees at peak tq does seem low to me on a 93-110 mix. That's pretty much what I run on my 91 oct. tune.

The boost curve is a side effect of too much preload on the WG. Having race fuel in the tank should cover me on that lean AFR but I will definitely take a swing at richening that up. I'll just turn off lean spool and everything should fall back into normal alignment.

I'm not sure what peak timing # I should settle on for this turbo.

Yes please turn off Lean spool... I dont know why people even use it.. its so inconsistent. Richen that baby up to 11.8ish starting 3500RPM and try to get it flat out taper to 11.1 by redline... you should try to add a couple degrees around 3-4500 RPM to see if it knocks

im not too sure that i would say that octane is a cover for lean air fuel, it may a little but...typically i would keep the same a/f and increase timing with increased octane.

i prefer the lower boost more timing mentality these days anyway.

6k rpm and beyond needs some work between 100 and 200 load. Don't have jumps of more than 3 degrees per 10 load units.

May as well throw up my current timing map at the same time. 91 octane, 22-23 psi peak tapering to 19.5-20 at 7k.

What Raptord said. You need go smooth the timing map out. A big jump in timing can cause knock.

Jonesey I7 Feb 7, 2012 09:05 PM

Thanks guys, my map was smoother. But those two cells never come together on the pulls or driving and I have zero knock. BUT none the less, I'm gonna go make a baby between my current map and the one you just posted Raptord, as I follow some of your posts and believe very much that you know what you're doing more than me.

*edit* Feel like I'm strung out on drugs from sleep deprivation... but I'm done.

Worked it out for you Rap..... better?

Bottom map is for 28psi, Top is for 24psi

Looks much better Jonesey.

I actually got sick of all the bs I was having with V7, and with some advice from a friend....FINALLY finished switching back to V5.10

here they are, done

Opinions? Raptord approval?

:lol::lol:

map looks pretty good. Could possibly use a bit of smoothing between 120 and 140 load around 3k rpm on the timing map and there a a few big drops in the fuel map (2k -> 2500 mainly), but besides that, yes, you get the Raptord seal of approval:

It's been a while since I've posted so I wanted to get some thoughts on my latest rendition. Mods are in my sig. 93 oct and peak boost 27psi tapering down to 22psi @7K.
