wow thats a huge difference in low end looks like thats the perfect "street" turbo to me that is still a 9 second capable turbo.

This turbo is mid-9 second capable, easily. The Red's have gone 9.7's at 145 at 545'ish whp and 42'ish psi of boost (if my memory is good). This turbo is still gaining power as the boost goes up, is at 600+ already. Should be good for 9.50's in the right car.

how much spool increase has your 3586 setup received from being a 2.3rpm as opposed to your standard 2.0? I would imagine this thing (3586) feels nuts while cruising in 4th and then downshifting to 3rd. Neck damage

609 whp and 610 ft lbs of torque Have mercy, i just spit out my juice. Plus this is on your mustang dyno, your RS must feel like a V8 on steroids on the streets. Thanks for test DB and Robert for the as usual bad ass turbos

David, have you talked to Treadstone on their EFR v-band inlet single scroll turbine housing they are working on? Just curious if it would allow an EFR turbo to drop into your v-band turbo kit.
Cool to see the test, makes me wonder how an HTA3073 or HTA3071 would compare on powerband and peak power. 610 WHP on a 57 pound/min wheel = 10.7 HP/(lb/min) HTA73 = ~590 HP HTA71 = ~550 HP The normal GT3071R doesn't usualy show up as much of a difference on a dyno compared to the GT3076R on spool (100-200 RPM), but is claimed to be a lot more responsive on the street on transient response. |
If I am testing an EFR it's going to be from BW so its designed how it was suppose to be run. I will be testing an EFR within two weeks.
I have a standard GT3071 on a stroker we built for a road racers years ago, it didn't impress me. I use to completely HATE the standard GT3076 though too. |
David once ur done with testing the borgwarner turbo how soon do you think you will start making kits. Time frame wise.

I've been lovin' the 2.3L GT3076 setup for years now. The power delivery is sooo nice, especially for a road race car. Mine is just the regular wheel though, not the HTA, which I've thought about upgrading but don't really have the need.
I've never cracked the boost up to 40 psi though.... Great tests Dave. |

This is the first car I know of that has broken 600 ft lbs on this dyno. This is the basic power/torque I was looking for when I built my RS this last time and why the 2.3RPM engine lives today, for this purpose 600+ ft lbs of torque. Unbelievable. This IS the turbo for an EVO. I will have a hard time recommending a Green/Red or anything else to most EVO owners after doing the testing on this turbo this week. |
thanks for doing the test, that turbo is a little monster! deff made me re-think my future turbo choice. Ive had my eye on this one or the GTX for a while, but just wasnt sure what numbers it could really make. Nice job{thumbup}

On the GT3071 I agree, most of the dynos I've seen seem to be pretty lacking as they typically aren't a whole lot more responsive then a GT35. A friend has one on his Mazda speed 3 though and with the 2.3L seems to be getting boost even a little better then what you are seeing here. Different dyno and what not, but 300ft-lbs by 3500 RPM and peak boost around 4200 RPM. Other wise stock motor. Just looks like it dies on airflow. If the HTA71 could get the peak numbers up, it might be a pretty nasty street turbo. |
I think the Garret GTX wheel would be doing pretty well on Daves setup as well - that would be kinda interesting to see.

Which EFR? 8374 or the 7670? Or hopefully both. :)
