ya id love to see what the 3788 and 3786 can do after seeing the 6466. i think the 6266 / 3586R are the best street turbos though when it comes to power potential and response.

cool comparison! now we need a 6266 vs hta 3586r

Compressor sections on those turbos are very comparable, but the 35R turbine is WAY more restrictive when compared to the PTE 66mm turbine.

I loved my FP3586, makes for a great powerband.

I know i said thanks somewhere else, but thanks for doing this.

It's great to have vendors willing do tests like this.
Good luck in 2013 and I hope you guys make it back to MN for Proving Grounds.

Pretty excited to run it on my setup based on these conclusions.

Sorry OP, not trying to hijack your thread. To answer this guy's question, here it is 2.4 LR 6766@43psi:

Is that Mustang dyno or Dynojet?

crx-si Jan 27, 2013 02:32 PM

Dynojet

So take 13-15% off those numbers for an equal comparison...

I'm not trying to compare to anything. I was trying to answer one guy's question about 2.4 with 6766. I'm sure the OP's mustang reads really low. Then again around Houston area, I've seen some mustang reads about the same as my dynojet, so it's not always true about the mustang reads lower than the dj. It's all about how the dyno operators set their mustang up. To Op, i apologize for whoring up your thread, won't happen again.

Nothing to apologize for, thanks for posting the dyno sheet. 700 wtq!! that must be fun. What compression is your 2.3L?

I posted up this info so we can all share idea's and results. In the end there really wasnt a clear winner, or a better turbo. Hopfully this will push PTE & FP to come out with something new and even better.

Devin, the compression is roughly 9:1, it's a long rod 2.4l. Yes the torque is ALOT of fun, the car would switch lanes on its own in 3rd. Even on 93 it's still plenty fun.

The Borg Warner EFR9180s are starting to filter through and the odd results are starting to show up - they look fairly promising in terms of spool etc, could arguably be expect to punch comparably with these units too.

Any dyno results on evo's besides the old one from the sse car.

Only difference is the 9180 at full tilt will only do 800 hp. I was inline to get the 9180 when they first came out in what 2003..jk, 2011. So I went back and forth with Geoff@ FR and he said what I just mentioned about the max power of the 9180...which 800 is nothing to shake a stick at but still, it's about 100-150 short of what these turbos can do at full tilt. Just sayin.

MrLith Feb 6, 2013 02:46 PM

Did he? Has that actually been tested, or a theoretical limit? Because if so, the specs BW have given on the EFR9180 are a bit misleading - the airflow numbers thrown around equate to >800whp on high octane..... and a Subaru has already put down >800whp on ~33psi with one.

Joshs EVO Feb 6, 2013 05:10 PM

He did, but you make a good point and I assume he was going off what info he had at the time.
