HAHA... I'm sorry, but so many threads like this for "fake" wheels.

They arn't fake wheels, they are actually real... they're round, they have bolt patterns, made out of metal.. you drive on them... this means they are real.

Fake vs Cheap, there is a difference.
Its like Fake Oakleys.... they are still sunglasses... just not Oakleys lol

^Haha I found your comment quite entertaining:lol:

I thought the same exact thing. A knockoff advertised as the real deal can be considered fake. However a cheaper product in this case the wheel is not fake by any means. It is still a wheel no matter how you cut it, granted now I would simply call it a broken wheel.

So much FAIL in this thread...

I had one of my Stock Enkie wheels develop a hairline crack. I only noticed it due to an unbalanced wheel type symptom developing and upon further inspection found the crack and picked up another used oem wheel. If I would have continued to drive on this cracked wheel then I'm sure a similar situation would have happened to me but thankfully I caught it in time.

Here's my oem wheel still sitting in my garage:

That wheel did not just implode at 35 mph ...... total BS. There is far more to this story then what was originally posted/shared by the OP. Missing lug nut, grave/debris and bought NEW/used but never installed DIRT CHEAP says something else about them not originally shared to us and the buyer after reading this thread.

Enjoy your 'Rice' vs. OEM/expensive wheel debate.....Not even worth reading what has and what will be posted about this.

It does suck to see that happen and I'm glad no one was injured.. but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the wheel just falling apart going 35 mph.

Thread from 2011 ... nice.

Heh, same exact crack on my stockers too... Actually drove it for 3-4 months before finally being able to switch them out with another wheel (OEM Enkeis were really hard to come by back then).

It is very possible for them to have been defective. Hell, even one of my friends ordered some XXR 531 brand new from factory had one. When they put it on the balancer after mounting the tires, you can see the wheel wobble. It was bad. He had a horrible time dealing with customer service too on getting it replaced.

After seeing this and my friends horrible experience, it's safe to say I won't be dealing with wheels from XXR. Don't care how cheap the price is. I've seen a few Enkei wheels break and they didn't explode like that one. Even after a couple potholes. Hell, mine didn't explode like that when I hit black ice, went up a curb and put a big hole on one of my stockers. Wheel still held rigidity. I literally drove home a mile away with a wheel like that because the spare decided it wanted to have a nail in it...

I was still able to drive home (~2 miles) on two flat tires. I went and bought another set of rims and tires the next day. I've destroyed Rota, Motegi, Enkei, and Rays in potholes.. all of them have held up the same, with roughly the same amount of damage. I don't buy expensive rims anymore because they're just going to get destroyed here on the terrible Michigan roads.

Maybe it's time for you to get a jeep {thumbup}

Never had a broken rim knock on wood.

maybe its time for me to buy some quality rims. hope my xxrs hang in there b4 i have enough money to buy new ones!!

What style XXRs are they and how much you want for them?

Thore Aug 2, 2013 09:53 AM

You have to think twice about what you put on your car. You might want that look but on a strict budget. At the end of the day, you're in a 3400 pound projectile on public roads.
