I am a NOOB! I was trying to press the wrong bearing in the inner most font balance shaft hole. Got that sorted and everything is assembled! So one wasted custom lathed socket and a brake cylinder hone later its together
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/ed599e2e.jpg Sprayed the block side of the head gasket http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/504233b5.jpg Timin belt all done! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/1e033653.jpg Long block! Next week the install! |
Nice car
|
its an old hunk of **** compared to your 9.....but its my hunk of **** so i will have to live with that lol
|
Dude be nice!!! It's a bad ass "hunk of junk" and I'd love to have one myself!!
|
looking nice nyko. You gonna be racing at the Napa event next month?
|
Doubt it Eddie :(
I still have ALOT to do. Later on this week i hope to deal with the O2 housing and dump tube at the least. The bend is very tight for the O2 housing so i will probably pizza slice it. I realize after i installed the timing belt etc that the backing plate for the timing cover bolts between the engine mount bracket and the block so i need to take all that back off and put that on. Fingers crossed that this weekend the motor is going in so i can get started on the fuel, oil cooler and power steering plumbing. |
damn that sux to hear especially since it might be the last race race for such a long time but it's always better to get it done right instead of rushing it and get it half done. hope everything works out for you soon man. good luck

Wow! Talk about gorgeous. Great job "unricing" it and building it. That's definitely one hell of a car! {thumbup}

thanks :)
Found a Jayracing COP plate on another forum for cheap so thats on the way to pair up with some 300m coils. Went to the local Toyota dealer to order some new pigtails for the coils (Toyota coils use the same plug aparently), they will be here next week some time. Got some more done! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/39e5d964.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/9e44485b.jpg Intake manifold from the powdercoaters http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/5746868e.jpg Took off the timing belt and the engine mount bracket to put the timing belt cover backing plate on (oops) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/ed18f53e.jpg Had to trim the timing cover slightly to clear the 90* fitting off the fuel rail. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/b210a90f.jpg Wrinkle black to the world! (don't mind the mess in the back ground) |
Got LOADS done today :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/aade6300.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/f5f01b1d.jpg Down pipe progress. I see way out of pizza slicing the main 3" bend. I will pretty much just cut a ton of pizza slices and put together the puzzle http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/47b56fd7.jpg They may be too tall http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/73e9ec06.jpg Well i got the stock flywheel, ACT unsprung 6 puck and Clutch Masters 2200lb pressure plate put on the engine and set about putting in back in the car. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/20230d8b.jpg I need to notch the middle support and the front most fitting will clear http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/4d690f35.jpg I may have to ditch the shroud and just mount them directly to the rad :( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/30293ea0.jpg Have to redo the actuator rod depending on what i do with the radiator, i just need to have the bend closer to the canister. Next week is the front suspension, new brake lines, engine bay wiring, fuel and oil plumbing. |

Front shot. I need to finalize the radiator mount. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/13604e73.jpg Oil cooler mounted to the frame http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/424eba5c.jpg Plumbed up. The 90* that comes off the port that points straight down is a gnats **** above the oil pans lowest point. I may need to make an under tray but if push comes to shove i will need to get some banjo fittings ($40 each!) I was on Napa searching for the shortest oil filter i could find and i came up with the 1365 filter which is 2.6" tall. |
Got some work done today :)
Finalized the mounts for the radiator, 2 more tabs will be welded to the end tanks tomorrow at the top to bolt where the front bumper bolts to (by the grill) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/9b71f6fc.jpg Radiator mounting stud and the V-band for the down pipe. I forgot to take a pic of the O2 housing but i need to do one more pizza slice for that and its complete :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/df8c615b.jpg Lower radiator hose clears the shifter linkages http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/cda3fd61.jpg Push lock fittings ftmfw! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/b476fe52.jpg Welded 2 nuts to the firewall to bolt the AEM FPR to http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/ba2a9ed2.jpg Oil pressure sending unit mounting location http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/71a8e0eb.jpg Cutest oil filter ever! I really need to see if the dealer is able to get the OEM Evo 9 filter http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/ecd3098b.jpg Tomorrow all the intercooler piping is being welded along with the radiator mounting tabs on :) I also got the front suspension back on and installed the new front brake lines (don't mind the caliper's i will be repainting them) |
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/b69a3116.jpg
Weld up the dump tube turn down tonight maybe http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/48a9a5b0.jpg Cold side piping mocked up http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/9cd16b1b.jpg The draw through suction port for the catch can setup Some pictures of the O2 housing, i still need to clean up the inside some more (splatter, i really need to get a tub of solar flux) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/f2888249.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...o/e79cadcf.jpg After tomorrow the only mechanical thing i will need to do is fill the transmission and transfer case and connect the downpipe to the exhuast. It's all wiring after that :) |
Wow great updates!!! Looking great man!!
