i know its not good to trust mitsu dealers...but i was told that the RA could be used

noob question....is there a gear ratio for FWD cars?
sorry I used to be a RWD owner...

Yes. Everything basically works the same, it's just that the diff is at the front of the car instead of on the rear axle.

LuDa May 29, 2008 01:54 PM

so xtreemeboost is running 15s with half the boost and expect to run like high 13s when done stock..

so say with an LSD how much of a diff do you guys think it would make to track times?

the_cosworth May 29, 2008 02:51 PM

1/4 mile or road race?

1/4 mile, probably .4 or .5 of a second because you will be able to launch much better

cool. i have to pretty much relearn everything I know about suspension, engine, drivetrain and everything lol.

Is there a popular gear set for our lancers? For mustangs, the stock 2.92 ratio was for increased hwy gas mileage but really didn't add any torque on the low end, so most people went with a 3.73 or 4.10 gear set when changing out their differentials. that really wakes up the car.

thanks for lookin' out!

It won't need an LSD. Extremeboost stated it will be able to launch with a performance clutch which will be offered with the turbo.

It's not really common, on FWD cars, to swap out different ratio final gears/differentials. Reasons are likely because it's a PITA to do and there's not a whole lot to be gained from it on a low powered FWD car.

My brother and I compete in a 2003 Lancer ES rallycar across North America, performed a 4G94 to 4B11 swap this past winter, and are now in desperate need of an LSD for the F5MBB transaxle. Needless to say, we are looking into the Scion TC option and will post our findings as we have some answers.

David from RPW just placed a post regarding a 4B11 LSD group buy in the following section:

There were a few posts in here about persons trying Scion TC LSDs. A few said they would try it and get back to us........what happened?

Evo10HKS Apr 11, 2010 10:41 PM

they probably didnt try it..

xed32 Apr 12, 2010 12:34 AM

Maybe someone would be brave enough to try an OBX lsd.

kalpakiotis Apr 12, 2010 04:39 AM

has anybody thought about getting the lsd from the ralliart? granted its a awd, but the fwd portion might still match up with our cars.

Rather than take a chance on purchasing a Scion TC LSD, we ended-up shipping a spare diff to Quaife UK, who then supplied us with an LSD. I'm not sure if anyone else is selling them at the moment, but, RPW can order them and have them drop-shipped from Quaife UK directly to you. Follow the link at post #40 above for additional information.
