did someone already ask why you went with a narrower wheel in the rear and how close the f/r tires are to being the same diameter?

V.8MR Aug 28, 2016 01:08 PM

I'm going to be running a square setup 10.5" x 18" +30 with 275x35 tires all around.

More small updates. Got fire tube on ABS sensors and cleaned up some wiring under fender liners. Went with 1/2" tube and it stretched enough to fit over the plug opposite to the sensor enough to get them on. I also wrapped the down-pipe. Picked up an Evo9 5 speed local for 400 dollar bucks. I think next I'm going to pull rear end and take both to TRE since they are only about 3hrs away. That is if I can get a hold of them 2 calls to a full VM box...

Send Jon an email, he's usually quicker to respond on that. If you get him on the phone though, he'll talk to you for an hour...lol

Might have missed it but are you planning on running the harness bar for the track or are you going to go to at least a bolt in cage with floor plates?

V.8MR Sep 1, 2016 04:36 PM

Im hemorrhaging money lol. Id LOVE to do a full cage... might do an autopower as you mentioned. Ive got 6 or 7 months to work it out.

Terror Rising Sep 1, 2016 04:48 PM

I personally wouldn't run on a track with a harness bar. It's okay for auto-x as the odds of flipping your car are relatively low. But a harness bar stops your seats from collapsing as intended in a rollover.

V.8MR Sep 1, 2016 05:16 PM

I agree. I was 10 years yonger when I put it in. I plan on a new helmet, and a Hans dev. My sparco is expired too. But again those 3 things are like 2k haha money well spent though.

FWIW a harness bar isn't meant to mount harnesses to, it's meant to get the correct angle off the seats, in case your mounting spot is less than ideal.
People that use them to actually mount the harness are doing it all wrong.

correct way:

So many things going wrong in that photo I don't even know where to start, so here is a photo of another RSX doing things horribly wrong as well:

It's actually ideal for the harnesses to mount as close as possible to the seat, for the least amount of stretch in an impact. I.E., mounted to the harness bar. The harness bar should be part of at least a 4 point roll bar though.

Not correct by a long shot. That kind of freaks me out........

Take a look at this video of one of many ways to properly mount the harness

Okay, you caught me bring lazy,Guilty. LOL
My post was in protest of mounting a harness to a bolt in harness bar. Horrible idea.
It was explained to me that is how the bars are meant to be used; if your roll bar doesn't have one and you are forced to use mount points that aren't the greatest.
If that's wrong, I apologize. The info came from a vendor...wouldn't be the first time I was given bad info LOL

Agreed. IMO if someone has all the equipment to use a harness on the first place, they probably at least have a four-point with an integrated harness bar.

I love this build! That meaty fitment is just gorgeous!

Got the SS shields a friend made for me based upon EGBeaters design. He cut them using a computer aided design/cutting machine and can be mass produced now lol. If anyone else is interested I'd charge $50 plus shipping and he will make additional sets for me. This is 10bucks above what he charged me to cover 50mile round trip to pick them up...
