Depending on the Rod length, stroke, rotational mass, etc... You should be able to rev a bit higher than 9k.

Mikey

I used JE pistons custom designed by Nick Diblasi at JE with almost every option they had at the time added to them. Such as extra gas ports, oil ports, upgraded wrist pins and coatings on top and bottom.

The rods are BC625+, you can get info here...
http://www.bc625.com/fandb.html
They have been known to hold 300hp per cylinder so I should be fine.

We used the rods from their stroker kit with a knife edged and micro-polished stock evo crank. I believe the rods are 6mm longer than a stock rod to complete the long rod motor set up.

Mathematically the bottom end due to being a long rod motor with a 87mm bore and a 86mm stroke will be able to max out the head at 10,500rpm. However this car will probably never see past 8,500 rpm. This is my street car and I want it to last. With the 4:11 final drive and a 26 inch tire combo according to Mr. Shepard at 8,500rpm the car should be about 150mph in the quarter so were good.

Thanks for all of the interest and kind words, the car has been nothing but a nightmare to build but I think were getting near the end of the build. Hopefully with a little luck and C-Will's undivided attention the car will be done soon and we will reach my goal of a 800whp 9 sec daily driver.

Ooooh... ImprezvSE, the details of all of this are quite interesting. I've a 4G69 block and am considering just reving lower and keeping the 2.4 displacement for my needs. Gotta say C-Will is quite an awesome guy to talk to. He's def been helpful to me.

Does someone have a pic of the top of a 4G69 block? It looked like there was a lot less material in the block IIRC from a pic I saw. It did not look like a closed deck to me, but (like I have stated many times) I am no engineer. That's Aby's job

Thanks. Now, can someone explain to me how this block is safe to handle Evo horsepower levels? And will an Evo headgasket work? The shortblock doesn't even look similar with the voids around the cylinders.

I'm not going for 1000 plus here the goal is 800whp and if I fall a little short so be it. This is still a cast iron block, so it still has plenty of strength. I mean look at the alum STI block and people make 800 on that...

To me the 4g69 is a semi-closed deck cast iron block, and with the water ports being huge temps should be real nice espec on E85.
The evo head gasket will not work, we are using a custom asap 4 layer mls gasket and we o-ringed the block.

Then again who knows, the whole thing could go boom and I'll start over.

On another note, guys make 800+ on sleeved honda blocks all the time. Again this to my knowledge is the first 4g69 build so we'll see what happens.

Nick @ JE has done a 10.5:1 4G69, he is the first one to tell me about the block. I do not know if its finished or not.

I have noticed my coolant temps during a pull barely move with the 4G64 block. From the research I have done I think the 69 will be about the same. Typically I start all pulls at 172* and on a 2.0 it will end up around 188-190. My car was 172 the whole pull at 584 and only barely hit 175.6* at 679.

I'm very curious why you decided on an Aeromotive (inline single??) fuel pump versus a double pumper set up. Could you provide a little more detail about the fuel setup? parts used? Delivery/return lines AN-6 or larger? in-tank? pulse dampener? stock fuel pressure? etc? Seems to be a trend here with BlkCarbonEvo, John Bradley, and the ASAP build using something different than a double pumper on your 2.2 / 2.4L motors. Do I detect a trend here?

My double pumper setup up using the Hobbs switch, AEM EMS S2, Aeromotive fuel rail, Fuelab FPR on my 2.3L running E85 & FIC Bluemax 1450 injectors isn't working for me and looking into other options. Any suggestions/details much appreciated.

Mikey or JB, please feel free to jump in...

Thanks,

Jay

A double pumper does not provide enough fuel, I just followed in the footsteps of Mike at AWD and what CWill at ASAP have proven to work.
