Murlo's New Build - 3rd Motors a Charm!

Well I haven't had the greatest luck with the Evo X platform so far but I continue to soldier on!

Just a little background.

Here was last stock motor setup:

FPred P&P and ceramic coated
AMS FMIC, LICP/UICP, 3" Widemouth Downpipe, AMS Intake
UR Testpipe
Buschur Bullet Catback
Stock exhaust manifold P&P and ceramic coated
Cosworth MX1 Cams
BlaqOPs Progressive Double Pumper (Boost)
Deatschwerks 1000cc injectors
Perrin 3 Port
MAPerformance AFPR
E85

Here is a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfD_P7GsjIk

Here is the dynochart:

It was running 3 psi less on this dyno run though so it was down 30whp/30wtq or so.

Then shortly after this:

So I was pretty bummed about the rod going through the block, I am guessing from the 450wtq+ (the failure happened on the way to the drag strip actually).

So the 1st build started and 6 months later I had this setup.

Buschur Bullet Exhaust
UR Testpipe
AMS Downpipe
AMS IC
AMS UICP/LICP
Primo 3.5" intake
FP black - ported heat coated
Blouch 21psi WGA
Built Motor - AMS Spec JE pistons, Manley TT rods, Cosworth bearings, stock sleeves stock crank
Built head - Ported/polished, +1mm valves (supertech) w/supertech springs
GSC S2 cams
Baseline w/ported n Coated stock mani - obviously changed manifolds
DW 1400cc Injectors
MAP AFPR kit
BlaqOps Progressive boost double pumper
E70 fuel
ACT 6 puck w/ ACT streetlite flywheel
Magnus CMC

And this is one of the dyno vids and the chart.

The earlier this year after 2500 miles on the new motor more bad luck.

It turns out I spun the cylinder #4 rod bearing. So I knew I needed a new crank, new pistons as we would have to overbore for sure and a new oiling system.

So knowing that I needed to overbore I didn't feel comfortable cutting into the stock sleeves at all and since I needed new pistons...time to sleeve it and run 90mm pistons!

So ERL got me a new 2.2L motor using a new crank and all new bearings and align honing it all. I used custom AMS spec JE pistons that are 10:1 compression and for a 90mm bore to make the 2.2L. 3 of my rods were still good so I replaced the one and all was well.

The overbore seems like the best of all worlds with its high revability.

So since my 570whp I have added the following:

- Bumped the displacement to 2.2L
- Bumped the compression to 10:1
- Added MAP longer runner manifold (it was on there during the 2nd failure but I never dynoed/re-tuned it).
- Added MAP o2/downpipe atmostphere dump downpipe seen below.

- Added new MAP EF4 turbocharger (1st one to test it!)

I also changed to new version DW1300cc injectors from my old style 1400cc ones. I am adding a new ACT 6 puck disc as mine was a little screwed and I got my primo intake recoated. i think thats it for changes.

I also bought new Eibach pro kit springs, AMS gate selector bushings, Beatrush rear diff bushing and torque solution driveshaft carrier bushings. It's getting an overhaul for sure.

So my new plan is to get the same power numbers at hopefully 25-28psi and run it more efficiently and conservatively.

My shop was putting the rear main on today and the motor is getting dropped into the car today/tomorrow so I think next week I will pick it up to start putting the break in miles on it! YAY!

E85 always here, that is our pump gas in Minnesota.

Not sure why the bearing spun exactly, peak torque timing was high according to a few so that might have been part of it. I don't really care anymore I just want it fixed.

Its like going all in at the WSOP with a pocket pair and losing to a 2-7 off suit.
Though beats man but way to keep the car alive. Good luck with ur latest build. I will now have nightmares after seeing ur block with a hole in it

I hope to have some vids of the car next weekend, been way too long since I have seen/driven the car!

I have an epic idea for a new vid, just need a good vid camera (not my iphone 4) and some good software. Hope to have it together in a week or two.

Edit: oh also, a pic of my new EF4! Expecting 600+ out of this *****!
