nice documentary on your build.. any reason why you choosen that specific assembly lube? also you can use a impact screw driver and break the screw loose on the oil pump and load it with assembly lube until its harder to turn and the engine will build full oil pressure first crank.. no need for that primer you got.. i never had an issue building oil pressure before this method.

Build looks awesome man!!! Im in the process of the same build, just was deciding what turbo to go with the 3586 or the 3794. What kind of numbers you looking to make?

I like both turbos to be honest, I am looking to make around 800 to start. Build the head and shoot for 900 eventually. If you want faster spool then go with the 3586, if you want a bunch of hp do the 3794

I have a few questions about the water pump. I have seen spacer problems and i see you did a weld mod. Why do you have to do this on the 2.4 builds? Does the pump have a seating problem, or over hang to need that extra weld on the left side?

The 4g64 water channels to the water pump are different and if you didn't modify the pump the coolant would just pour right out of the block as the pump doesn't cover the holes.

Hey man just read your whole thread and bummer to hear about the ring issues from Manley

Did you guys have to remove the entire block and completely re-assemble or just hone the bores and drop the new JE slugs in?

Anyway best of luck with the new motor set-up and btw the car looks great with the CCW's!

Interested to see how this set-up compares to a similar build over here that's running a MAP 2.4L and PTE 6766......

Ok thats what I figured because I would rather weld it like you did than us the spacers.

Started from a bare block again, rehoned, final finish on the bores and then gave the final measurements to JE to get custom assymetric pistons made with an exacting size. Its not a standard off the shelf piston or size. Its actually 87.04mm. Many shops would have just tried to hone it out and would have contaminated the entire build with debris. I'm lucky to have my builder sponsor the labor due to no fault of their own to see that this is done right without corners cut. Big thanks to Scott for that.

I'm super happy with the decision to switch to JE and these pistons have been a dream so far. They appear fully seated already and not a puff of smoke. My 3 lines off the valvecover and dipstick vent hardly breathe at all this time around which tells me there is next to zero blowby or leakdown. Super stoked about that compared to the manleys that were absolutely horrible.

Josh did you do a vented dip stick? If not make sure you tie it down before you get on the dyno I think on the 2.4 its common to push it on high HP cars. Hope the car is done before Sebrng i want a ride in it for sure I know plenty of roads down there we can get some good footage of both our cars.(yours looks better for sure)

See you soon.
