Evo III rebuild thread

well i've been working on this for some time already but i figured i would post here for you guys as well so other could see the project if they wanted to

Disclaimer** yes i suck at spelling...lol but i'm just going to copy and paste the post from the other forums to sum it up for you guys

well got some new info this will be a bit of a slow process but i'll update when i can some have seen the pics in my first postings but wheres where the car is at
2770lbs.
372 whp on 93 oct pump gas
390 ft/ tourqe
and some side damage lol
but i do got the replacement parts on the way here's some pics

bit of a update got the doors off and was able to look a bit more of the damage off to the frame rack it goes before the side of the car comes off figured it was best to undo the factory spot welds and just replace the side like the factory woulda put it on the next thing is do i put the sticker back on or just go back to white

so here's a bit of an up date got the doors on and the car straighten back out the bad metal cut out new metal fitted up ready to go in

and also was bored in forza...lol

and found some pics of the car when it was first imported

So some more pics of it becoming whole again

so before it gets painted
we ran it down the street figured it's the only time we'll see this

i know a buddy was taking some as well but these where my crappy iPhone pics so i'll get his later

well still working on it doors are done was to tired to take the last primer pics and realized man i hate sanding lol more chassis work to come btw how do you take the front bumper off?

he doesnt help

time for another up date been a bit cause well i've been working on the dang thing but now it's in paint...well the car and most of the bits are just some loose ends need to be finished but now come the reassembly job but i've had enuff 3am and other late night for a bit

here's some pics

ill get some pics as bits get on the car

sitting at my house for the moment got some odds and ends to finish up but took it out for a bit last night i got a bunch of work stuff coming up so won't have much time for it for a while but for the most part it's together

Thats as it sits now need to find a new front lip the old one was to far gone and all the duct work underside as well for the brakes needs new weather stripping and center console and need to find some evo 3 seats and rails might stick some evo 10 seats in idk yet but the exedy clutch is slipping under boost so need to find a cheap decent twin or looking a spec clutch i have a act 2600 6 puck unsprung but dear god it wouldn't work on the street
did pick up a aeromotive 340 fuel pump that thing is impressive way better then the 255 of old and it would out flow my current bosch 044

best thing of all its awsome to have this thing back on the road the looks and stares and reactions are great and to say i got a real evo 3 from japan is even better and that well all the hard work was done by myself and had some good freinds to help along the way next part of this thread will be the mechinical side of things wich is about time for me i hate sanding now i wanna get back to what i know how to do..lol

Well replaced the clutch and pressure plate restored the stock tank and sealed it turned the 300zx rotors and new pads in the gtr aluminum calipers and fixed some other misc items and picked up the whole under side of a Evo 8 mr so I'm trying to figure out how to mount the 8 stock suspension under it for now so I can get the ohielns rebuilt so any ideas would be Awsome or links to write ups or specs

ok havn't had time to finish some things and infact found out my top end sputter problem was infact some crap *** champion plugs gap to 45 lol smashed those down to 28 and way better but had time to take it on a cool cruze thing we do only time you can run what ya brung with no tech inspection but 90 oct with 15psi and no meth and the blown ohleins and all seasons i managed a 13.04@105mph with a 1.83 60' time first run down that track in 5 years in a awd apperantly i'm not as rusty as i thought next will be faster once i have some time to sort out the bits

oh and heres a vid the lights wheren't working on the first couple passes but i got a time slip

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=448427311853593

update
fuel cell is out and 044 pump gone
back to stock tank now using the aeromotive 340 pump
fuel presure gauge was leaking well it was blown out so capped that off for now

the mismatch front seats are out now inplace of some temp sparcos for the moment

the evo 8 mr bilsteins are under the car for now till the ohielns can get rebuilt

the vce is on odrer for some dyno time to get the car tuned
but here's some pics of the progress

buddy's rb powered wide body 240 also in pic

and thats kinda where i'm at right now

Hats off to YOU! Not many people would put the time, energy and money into a car that was T-Boned, no matter how rare it is! You saw what this car is worth and I'm glad you saved it! Ok, some 'obvious' questions if you don't mind (Sorry)!:

1) Was that a true Japanese rally car, or just painted up to look like one?
2) How the heck could you get the car here as a street car? I know if it's a "track orientated only car" it's a lot easier. In that case, it could never hit the streets...

Great job and keep up the good work! I look forward to future updates and photos! Amazing!

thanks man one of the reasons i wanted to bring it back was to let others enjoy it as well

1. nope just some paint

2. it had a vin assigned to it in Florida -before i bought it

so that leg work was already done
