and nice, I've heard some good things about modding the stock ECU, apparently it can push some pretty good numbers.

My mate just had a cat back exhaust and a HKS intake, he pushed just under 200kw so with a turbo back and intake you'll get 200+ easy.

if you can get your hands on maybe a meek hotside pipe, you're looking at about 10hp just from that alone, it's definitely my next mod.

I'm basically gonna finish my cat back to turbo back, add an aftermarket hotside pipe, get a tune and that'll be the end of my build.

they're so expensive to build in this country
Yeah it seems a bit dead sometimes except for the Major players there. Where about's in Oz are you?

I had a look at getting a hot side pipe, its definitely on the cards, my mechanic is pushing for a turbo upgrade as well haha, he just wants to see where he can go but that's beyond what I need it for right now.

Couldn't agree more, All JDM imports are worth way too much in this country compared to most other places, especially US and UK,although e do get an awesome range allowed so that's a plus. The Evo is cheap to build compared to a VR-4 though, what a headache.

Hopefully whatever I end up with tomorrow will be a bit of an indication of where you can get with your car when you are done modding and get your tune. I ope it cracks 200 :P

Yeah agreed we have a nice range. I've been looking mostly at second hand parts lately cause they're much cheaper and still work well. Like my apexi cat back.

I'm I'm nsw. The cheapest second hand parts I've found have been at Xtreme Motorsports in burwood. But I order a bunch of stuff off eBay too.

I have a list of places and sites at home but can't be bothered to get it haha.

I notice your license plates changed from qld to nsw?

Yeah Ebay is a godsend mate, EvolutionOz has some good stuff for sale usually too.All my stuff is 2nd hand except the exhaust. My mate has a set of Tein Monoflex coilovers, a fuel pump and EBC kit, and a set of 1050cc injectors for sale here, they are in my garage right now haha. I cant afford them lol

Yeah I am from New South Wales but am posted in Townsville in the Army, I am from The central coast but have a heap of family in Sydney. When we bought it from Top Secet Imports it was registered in NSW and had to be changed over after we drove it back here. It cost $1370 to change the rego over to QLD for 6months too.

Where about in NSW are you from.

Damn you evoscan!!!

SO! How did the Tune go....
We got the car in about 10 this morning, checked it over, all was fine, started it up and did a base run without any changes to get a look at how it performed before playing around with it.

First Run....It ran up 177 awkw with 621nM Torque. Not too shabby considering its just stock with a 3" turbo back and a pod filter :P It peaked at 19psi but tapered off to 16psi at about 5-5000rpm and stayed there until redline.

We were happy with this so we went ahead and pulled the map and logged the next run with EvoScan, we realised about half way through that we couldn't read the Load high enough as Evoscan was maxing out at 260. This was the first Hiccup haha, we spent a fair whack of time Editing the .XML to allow for 2Byte Load Logging and away we went and tried again. Before we Reflashed the map with the edited Load resolution back in, Adrian had a TINY play with the fuel table at low/mid RPM, barely changed it and kept it very rich. We couldn't edit the top end because of the problem Logging at that load.We Ramped it up again.

SECOND RUN: 183.8 Awkw with 667nM of Torque...I was pretty happy with that myself

This is where we encountered our second Hiccup that ultimately cut our day short which was a real shame. We were having a lot of trouble with the EvoScan software, it seemed to bee logging a few random things here and there and was sporadically doing its own thing, it wasn't corellating with the Maps or giving us the information we needed. We could have easily tuned it, but Adrian would rather be safe then sorry and didn't want to do it without the Datalogger working perfectly so we could tell exactly what we were doing to the car. There is an absolute tonne of room left to play around in the fuel maps, we are confident that with a three port to help stabilise the boost at 20psi through the rev range, and getting it to lean off past mid range where it is currently running filthy rich, we should Easily see 210awkw, and that will be safely, with still more room to move.

After coming home and playing with My own Evoscan which worked perfectly on my laptop, we have decided that When Adrian last updated his EvoScan it didn't work properly and it is glitching out and that's why it is unable to log properly and not showing the correct information. Unfortunately time was working against us and we had to call it a day, but I am booked in again to knock this on the head next Saturday so stay tuned for that.

Thanks for reading Guys

oh nice, I bought mine through TSI too! they run a tight ship there, great company.

I'm from the western suburbs in sydney.

Your vinyl wrapping skills have inspired me to do my spoiler blade in black wrap haha. I have a whole black/white thing going on.

I'm going to try and get my hands on some plastidip for some minor decal work like coloring the badges cause my paint job on them wore off, the black is chipping off

nice work on the tuning!

Yeah they were really good to deal with I thought. I have family In St Clair and my partner has a lot around the western suburbs.

The wrap wasn't too hard, your best bet to get hold of some is to google 3M distributors in your area and head to one of the places and puck some up. Should only be $10-12 for a metre to do the wing, It's a bit of a pain to get the blade out bit I can talk you through it if you want. You got a ride thread, Is love to check out your car man.

That result yesterday was basically not tuned at all, I am still stoked though, But when we actually do get the tune into it We are confident in cracking 200 and hoping for 210+ That would be a great result.

haha my badges are stuck on pretty well, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the stuff I wanna get, plastidip, stuff is like miracle paint in a can

Shame to hear about your mates evo. hopefully he at least got a nice payout from insurance.

and no doubt you'll be in the 200+ vicinity if you got 20kw out of just messing around a bit lol.

I don't have a build thread here either haha, I'll put up a pic of mine later when I get a chance!

Yeah I know Plastidip, A guy did the badges on his VR-4 with them on OzVR4. I have heard its pretty good, but that it can also chip, fade and peel. The best way to take your badges off is to heat them with a hair dryer and slide a tight bit of fishng line down behind them to cut them away from the car. The residue left can be removed with Prepwash (bunnins/supercheap etc)

Yeah he broke even after his payout and me buying his parts haha.

Can't wait for the REAL tune mate, and to see picture of your Evo...

Any reason why they are rare in Japan?

They were all exported to you. Japan doesn't have a crave for wagons.
