Craig's 2.4LR/EF4/E85/SD build thread

I bought my evo in the summer of 2010 with around 50k on the clock. Since then I have put about 30k on her and not really had any problems with it other than a bad idle. All in all, the car has been great, but it just lacks in the power department.

Current mods:
Full TBE
272 Cams
Full injen intake
Perrin crank pulley

I have driven this car for 30k+ miles with this pulley on, after I disasemble the engine, I will post pictures of how the bearings look.

This is when I first put the Evo X bbs's on. Wife backed into me which caused the big scratch in the front bumper.

This is my car as it sits today, really need to get the bumper painted!

**EDIT 3/1/13** I HAD quite a bit of extra money laying around, but have since spent alot on parts for my car.
I decided to build a 2.4 motor for my car. I was not shooting for a particular HP number, but now I am looking for something north of 550AWHP. That being said, I am running a 2.4LR with E85. I chose the EF4 as my turbo which I believe will reach my goals on this 2.4LR with E85.

**EDIT 1/28/13**
I ordered the parts for my shortblock from MAPerformance

MAP ultimate duty 156mm rods
Manley Forged 100mm Crank
Weisco Standard pistons
MAP head studs
MAP water pump adapter plate
MAP Balance shaft removal kit
Gates water pump
Mitsubishi gasket kit
Head gasket
ARP main studs
ACT 6 puc Clutch and streetlight flywheel

**Update**
This is the block I picked up from the junk yard for $150 from a 2002 Galant.

I just bought the parts for my shortblock so my build is Offical!

ARP Main studs
MAP Head Studs
MAP Bal Shaft Elimination kit
Mitsubishi Gasket kit
Power Enterprise Head Gasket
Gates Water Pump
2.4 Water Pump Spacer
OEM Oil Pump
ACL Race Bearings
MAP 156mm Billett Rods
Custom Weisco HD 87mm Stroker Pistons
Manley 100mm Forged Crank

All the above came in at just over $4,000 and everything is in stock!

The machine shop I am using does not have a torque plate so I bought one. Few weeks out before I can start putting the block together. If anyone needs a torque plate, I may consider selling or renting it!

Just got these parts in yesterday. Im quite excited about it!

Weisco 2.4LR 10:1 Compression Pistions

MAP Ultimate Duty Billet 156mm Rods

Manley Forged 100mm Crankshaft

The pistons look kinda... I don't know... dainty? I hope they can handle 30+ PSI of boost.

My build is in a holding pattern waiting for a torque plate and the clutch to have the assembly balanced. I guess good things take time, and I have plenty more ordering to do.

**UPDATE 2/14/13**
Just got my torque plate in, looks pretty sick.

**UPDATE 3/22/13**

I just ordered a set of the GSC R2 Cams with springs, retainers and seals. Should be here within a week or so.
Just got my ETS 4" intercooler and piping, I must say, the parts are flawless. If you need a intercooler I highly recommend them!

The wrinkle black looks amazing, nice and even coat, no doubt it is a nice product.

below is a teaser of a custom piece I am working on. Should turn out amazing.

**UPDATE**
4/1/13
I ordered the rest of my parts from MAPerformance to include
EF4 turbo with port/coating
MAP short runner intake
MAP O2 Dump
Walboro 400LPH E85 Pump
AEM FPR
AEM Cam Gears
Gates racing timing belt

**UPDATE**
All the parts I ordered have arrived, and I am just waiting on the engine block to be finished.

Nice build, any reason you went with the 2.4 and not a 2.0 LR or even a 2.3?

Well my car runs fine but Im looking for more power. I found a good 2.4 block for $150 and when I sell my 2.0 it should bring around 1000 to fund other parts.

I guess if you get a European spec water pump you don't need a spacer.

MAPerformance for most of my parts thus far except the intercooler, I bought that straight from ETS. I wanted a 3.5" core but they were out... So, they gave me a 4" for the same price. Can't go wrong, and I imagine a larger core is better for the smaller turbo's anyway.

Also, bump for new pics!
