jwdp54 2.3L build!

i purchased the car in feb 2010 bone stock from a older man who was the original owner. he took great care of it and was his daily driver for the entire time. i bought it with 93k and it ran like a champ from the beginning. unfortunatly i got hit within a few months of owning...
My daily at the time. Sold it a few months later 08.5 ms3

July 2010

i started modding it quickly as i added injectors, mbc and wally and e85. made 350/380 at 30psi. i kept it like that for about a year when my pump went out and started throwing around the idea of making more power. i decided to go with this setup.

August 2011
125k miles
original stock block(did a compression test today and it was 160 150 160 160)
original stock clutch
fp 73hta green 84mm cover
fp 25psi wg
gsc s2 cams with arp hs
map o2 dump
ebay tubular manifold
fic 1450 injectors
dw 300 fuel pump
omni 4 bar map and iat with spoolin up pnp harness
upper and lower intercooler piping
agp fmic
65mm mil.spec throttle body
spoolin up cop
tuned on speed density by phoung at Wingz Performance
30psi on E85

104 degrees, 5% correction, smoothing 0
the red is at 32psi
the green is at 40psi- over boosted due to mbc error

well at that point i knew it was going to happen sooner or later. one day me and a buddy were out driving and i went to shift and all i saw was smoke.
Sept 2011

so the build began! i decided to go with a 2.3 as i want the heart of a evo but with a twist.

March 2012
2.3l 9.0:1
wiseco pistons .020 over
eagle rods
oem 4g64 crank
acl bearings
exedy twin disc
arp l19 headstuds
egr block off plate
ferrea +1mm oversized valves
kiggly springs and retainers
ported intake mani
ported hotside
wingz double pumper with dw300 and wally 255 as back up
32psi on e85

32psi and dropping to 28 by redline.

took the car to the track and the first time launching it last summer. Aug 2012

Took the car to speedworld again in october 2012 where i ran a little faster at 11.7 @124. Also dynoed the week after where i put down 495/483 at 32psi. Id say 2012 was good and cant wait to see what this year has in store!!

Jan 2013 i finally had the car painted and body work done.

The color ill be going with is a mixture of a bunch of silvers. Car will get a few coats of paint and plenty coats of clear. The pic doesnt do justice of the color

Bought dec 2012
Well looking ahead this year i know im wanting to go faster and even start doing nasa events depending on my schedule. Since its going to become a track car i needed a newer daily. It didnt stay the way i bought it for long either... Only thing being done is fixing minor things, cleaning up and being tuned back onto 91.

during the painting

decided to put the works on silver car.

well the last time i was at the track( back in oct) i started having problems with my clutch not wanting to go into first or reverse and couldn't figure out why so i started pullling the car apart in prep of ugrading a lot of things. Never found out why either

tranny was rebuilt
Qm race 8 leg with street version flywheel
Finally removed egr, evap, fpr soleniod and cleaned up intake manifold
Bought some braided sleeving to clean up the engine bay along with snap on injector connectors

Starter, alternator and battery harness

New brakes along with powdercoating calipers(new dustboots and seals also) and valve cover golden granny smith

Got my ets pipe welded along with my new tial bov thanks to jdl auto design!

April 2013 this is how the car sits as of now. i have everything to put it back together, just been slow as i had soulder surgery so i can only do so much at a time. i hope to have it running in 2 weeks and then i'll be heading to the track to hopefully break into the 10's.

Just need to connect the harness, install brakes, put the radiator and piping back on and should have it fired up this week. Waiting on my catch can still.
(Yes my rotors are on backwards just wanted to see how it would look)

Well ive put about 200 miles on it in 2 days lol and its running great! Ill be breaking it in over the next few days so i can get tuned and dyno next weekend hopefully.

Clutch is loud and chatters worse than a exedy but i am really liking the hydraulic throw out bearing on it. Pedal feels like stock and is very streetable besides the noise. We'll see how it holds at the track. Not much to say on the tranny yet.

Harness looks good! You should route the lines underneath the IM, it will clean it up like crazy!

Thanks! The crash bar is STM's. i bought their front and rear. Good quality.

I tried but didnt remove enough wire loom to run underneath. Ill probably redo it when i pull the motor next time. Thanks for the how to!

well i've put well over 500 miles on the new tranny and clutch. today we had a dyno day and i got the chance to strap it down to see where the car was at. results were impressive as my last dyno which is i have to compare with was in the low 80's. today it was 107 so i had a huge leak somewhere and most likely was from my hks bov. this was on the same tune and same boost level. only thing changed was leaning out afr's as it was really rich on the first few pulls.

Car looks great man. QM is loud as hell, I am going to switch mine to Triple Exedy to see if it quieter.

Did you depin the connectors to do the wire loom?

The exedy triple isnt going to be any quieter. You will have to worry about your input shaft getting messed up possibly. I did depin the connectors which i wish i would have used heat shrink instead of electrical tape on the wire.
