Lokke's Build Thread: 2006 IX MR 2.4L 6466
Lokke 2006 GG EVO IX MR
Here is the story if you want to read:
When I was in my early twenties I bought a Gen 1 Mazdaspeed 3. At the time it was the most I could afford and offered the greatest bang for the buck for a new car (subjective I know). I learned a lot from that car – doing all of the bolt-ons and service myself.
About a year ago my younger brother bought an Evo VIII SSL. This is where my problems begin.
I got to a point where I was just throwing money at the car to get close to 400whp. I did a big turbo, E85 tune and supporting mods. It is fail wheel drive to begin with so this was just a ridiculous endeavor. No matter what I did I could never be as fast as his evo – in a straight line, 40 roll, dig, in the twists – didn’t matter. So knowing that my efforts would be futile I decided to sell the car. The car had about 95k on the odo - so I got a lot of miles out of that stock block. I have always been a fan of evos since I first saw the EVO VII when I was in high school.
Enter the 2006 GG EVO IX MR
My brother had done some business with FFTEC previously and highly recommended them. So I called up Mike and we had a talk.
Will had an evo he was looking to sell – I bought it and the rest is history. I decided to enlist them to do the build – I want to do this right the first time and have neither the time nor the means to do it myself.
My goal is a 600-700 awhp reliable daily driver.

I am sure I am missing something – feel free to chime in if you see anything obvious.
Thank you for looking! Glad to be joining the evo community!

I will update with pics later today.
TL;DR Sold my Mazdaspeed3 - slow and fail wheel drive. Bought an evo - fftec build. Because race car.

Everything looks good except this part ^ That part will be doable if you keep it under 3500rpm and out of boost for its whole life
Looks like a solid build. Dunno if its something you could change, but I'd say go to larger cams. 2.4's really need big big cams. Kelford 272 on a 2.4 is a really small set of cams.

Welcome to the Forum bro! I'm going to be super jealous when you drive up our driveway for the first time. I gotta step my game up now! Anyway don't forget to edit your post and add that it has a custom 5 speed transmission shep did for the car. Also the stage 3 transfer case etc.
