heres a video of how to do it, you will probably have to press the pressure plate in in order to compress the wave clip, because there is nothing pushing against the pressure plate to hold it in place when you try to use the clutch fork

Thanks man, now it all makes sense. I haven't had any time this weekend to mess with the evo, and at the moment all I can really do is wait for parts to get here from STM. This will be the last round of parts hopefully, I'm ready to get the evo up and going and get a nice fresh tune.

A friend of mine does it for me every so often, whenever I get new parts. I met him through autocross friends. I'm excited to go back with the fuel mods and give him a lot more room to play with. My stock fuel system was nearly maxed at 22psi.

Its been a few days since I've updated since I'm basically just waiting on parts at the moment. This waiting game really sucks. Anyways, here's what has already gotten here.

Standard ARP head stud kit and 85mm Cometic head gasket.

I have a clutch!

UPS guy =

I'm still waiting on the last round of parts from STM, not many things but all necessary in the big picture.

-OEM Balance Shaft Pulley
-OEM Timing Tensioner Pulley
-OEM Idler Pulley
-Gates Evo VIII Water Pump
-STM Stainless Valve Cover Bolt Kit: thought the valve cover would look better with these on it instead of the dirty factory bolts.
-PTE Mitsubishi Injector Seal Kit

I haven't received word of anything being shipped yet but hopefully it wont be too much longer. I'm ready to hit some boost.

So it's no longer 2013, it's 2015. Fast forward 2 years from all the problems I experienced with the head in 2013, and I've had 0 problems out of this mighty mitsu! I have decided to make good on my earlier plans and finally upgrade the fuel system in my car, as I had planned earlier in the build thread. I wouldn't necessarily expect frequent updates, I am working quite a bit these days and the only time i have to work on the car is in the middle of the night or early in the morning. But new pictures and other information that you may could use will be rolling in from time to time.

Things I am working toward for this particular refresh are to:
-get rid of all oem exhaust components
-install walbro 255 & 780cc injectors
-set up my car so i can accurately log boost pressure and wideband AFRs

The only two oem exhaust components left on my car are the manifold and the o2 housing. My solution for that will be a megan racing exhaust manifold for now, and maybe forced performance's cast manifold later on down the road. I'm just trying to make streetable and affordable horsepower and this seems like a decent enough piece. I am also going to buy a new set of oem exhaust studs, nuts, and washers to tidy things up a bit. As for the o2 housing, MAP is selling one currently for $115. I don't think I can pass up on that. so that will complete my exhaust system for now.

I already have a walbro 255 and some pte 780cc injectors with the install kit for the injectors, all I have to do is install them.

I've obtained a tactrix 1.3U cable for my car, I don't plan to tune the car myself but I still need to set some things up beforehand so I can make the most out of my log data. My plans are to obtain an omnipower 4 bar map sensor to keep things stock appearing, so I can log boost accurately. I feel like this car will probably never see over 30 psi on any turbo setup, so this piece is plenty enough for the job. As for monitoring Air fuel ratios, I'll most likely just go with an aem uego for the simple and clean install.

Once I get the car tuned with all of these things installed, I will most likely be looking at a turbo upgrade at some point in the next year. From there it will be the short block. I don't plan to push this stock short block beyond 400 ft/lbs by much, I plan to tear the block down early in 2017 if it doesn't explode by then and over build it so I can enjoy driving it and not breaking it.
That's all for now.

Update:

Most of the parts have arrived at this point, I've only installed one thing so far, as I am currently daily driving the car and need to plan a few days downtime for some of these things. I mostly stuck with my original plan, but changed a few things out.

Picked this up from MAPerformance with the SS line.

Injen Intake Pipe Kit - Picked this up for a steal, it's stock route but it looks great and in my opinion is a great bolt on for someone not wanting to sacrifice the big battery or relocate.

Other things I purchased:
Dell Latitude D630 - Needed a smaller laptop for tuning and decided to go for one with a 9 pin serial port to avoid using an adapter. So far this thing is working great for me.
DNP tubular stock flange manifold
GSC beehive springs

Still need to buy a few things, so more yet to come.

Update time. Everything is here at this point besides two or three other things I need to decide on. I'm looking at 2 weeks worth of double shifts right now to help pay for all these goodies, so unfortunately it looks like my time frame is going to get pushed back a bit. I'm not so much in a hurry at this point, with winter coming up there wont really be any tracks open for me to go put down a time so I'm sure this list will steadily grow throughout the winter. When I FINALLY decide that I'm content with the parts I have I'll take it and have it tuned

DNP Exhaust Manifold, Muse o2 Dump, Torque Solution Heat Barrier gaskets, AEM UEGO, Billet 70mm S90, Walbro 255, PTE 780cc, GSC Beehive Springs, AEM AFPR w/ MAP install kit SS line, MAP CAS Heat Shield, Spec Ops AEM UEGO Serial Logging Cable, OEM Mitsu Intake manifold Bolts & Studs, Exhaust Stud & Nuts kit from MAP, MR Gasket Copper Exhaust Gasket, MAP EGR Block off plate, Turbo XS MBC, omnipower 4 bar map sensor (on car), and that famous $200 Engine Bay Bolts & Washers Dress up kit from BoltDepot.com for $29.90 shipped

My current dilemma is the intake manifold itself. Obviously slapping the S90 on the stock intake manifold isn't going to net me sh*t. So I'm either looking at a port job on the intake manifold which will probably take weeks to get here and still probably will not be big enough to take full advantage of the S90, or I can get a nice SMIM which will probably hurt more than help on my stock turbo. I obviously have plans for a bigger turbo setup (what evo maniac among us doesn't?) I just don't know how quickly I'll be able to produce said turbo kit. I may just bite the bullet and go with a JM Fab Race SMIM. Time will tell.

Also, I feel like I should really pick up the turbo oil line that feeds from the oil filter housing from either MAP or FP, and probably a Kiggly Racing HLA Pressure Regulator.

More later. Cheers

Got an hour to wrench today, pulled out the radiator and got all the exhaust related bolts loose except the o2 sensor. Picked up a special socket for that from the parts store. Going to get started again in the morning. My valve cover gasket decided to **** oil all down the front of the exhaust side, so I have quite a bit of cleaning to do and a gasket to buy. Cheers

Got some decent wrench time today. I took the turbo off and cleaned up my nasty engine some, I had to pull the turbo with the manifold attached. I think I crossthreaded a bolt somehow when I was loosening it. I guess I'll get that out tomorrow and I think I will order some stainless ARP hardware to bolt the turbo back in properly. I fought with the factory exhaust studs for a minute or two, and put the new ones in there, they look great.

A very dirty Evo 9 CHRA 9.8T that is surprisingly in really awesome condition. It has never used any oil since I've owned the car.

After a little bit of cleaning, still much more left to do.

Did a little mock up of the exhaust mani just so I could admire it.

That's all for now, I'll probably squeeze a few hours in tomorrow if I can because there is a lot more ahead for sure.

Intake manifold is off now. I've been degreasing the engine and cleaning everything I can. Here's a few pictures of the bay as it sits.

Nothing much to report other than PITA obstacles. I unfortunately had to let the buschur intake manifold go, the power steering pooped out on my SUV so that needs to be assessed first. I attempted to remove the studs from the turbine housing yesterday and broke both of them off. I firmly believe every single turbo stud I've ever touched in my life has broken off. I'll be going after some EZ Outs tomorrow, if it's too bad, I'll just scrap the piece and look for a 10.5cm turbine housing. That's all.
