Red TME "race" car build in the UK
Hi all,
Got a bit of an update for you all.
Havnt got much done in the last week or so. This was due mainly to going back to work and being a cba face when I got home. I also had a bit of a wobble on the whole project as I thought my block was knackered, but turns out it's good!
I have, however got the cage in! Here's a quick pic I took last night just after I'd finished bolting it all up. Note to self, fitting a cage ideally requires 2 people.
Future plans will probably include painting the inside as it looks a bit crap where I've painted the bare metal feet.
Anyway, here's a quick pic of the cage, taken at 11.30 on a school night! Please excuse the mess and lack of more pics, my phone also died!

Ok,
So tonight's mission was to fit my seats.....
1st off, anyone have a scooby doo what this bloody says lol ?

No? Well my calculated guess is haha you paid a fortune for this product and 1 side doesn't even fit!
I'm sure Ross will rectify this problem either by sourcing the right part as he was obviously sent the wrong 1 or by pointing out a monumental **** up by me!
Luckily the side that matters did fit, beautifully. So the cockpit is a little bit closer to being as it should.

Next thing to do is cut a piece of Ali to size to mount my gauges, cut off switch and extinguisher pull cord in. Then it's just a case of waiting for my BAMA membership to come through so I can get some harnesses, the extinguisher and a few other bits and bobs.

Bit of a crap update for tonight but want to keep the thread ticking along as otherwise I'll forget things.
Was bored last night so I decided to be a geek and prep a spreadsheet for the engine build. I was going to type it all out anyway so this will save me sitting there with a calculator for hours and will be ready to print off.

And today I recieved a little parcel containing these

Big thanks to supermario666 for doing me a real good price and getting them to me in double quick time!!!
Looking forward to having a good weekend on it and getting some big bits done

Hi,
Thought I'd better just update the thread or I'll lose track of where I am.
Starting off with the seat rail issue, turns out the passenger side is in fact for a 7, do Ross is sorting that for me!
Started building the engine at the weekend. All was going well until I got all the crank bolted up, etc and realised I'd forgotten to put the oil squirters in!!!! With a magnet and a screwdriver I got 2 in , doing them up with a ratchet ready to torque after, until I got a bit heavy handed with 1 and snapped the bolt!
Fearing the worst and very annoyed with myself I spent all night stueing over it, thinking what if the blocks knackered etc etc...
Following morning I decided to have a poke around. Got a long flat head screwdriver down there and the stub twisted straight out! Quick phone call to super Ross and a new bolt, along with some other goodies was ordered, which arrived the next day , today.

So that's the new banjo bolt for the oil squirter, omni 4 bar map sensor and gm iat sensor ready for sd conversion and also some sealant for the sump.
So with the oil squirters now all in and torqued I cracked on with the bottom end.

Once all that was good I fitted the crank scraper.

I then set about putting the front case together but encountered yet another problem. After torquing the balancer shaft delete I discoloured the oil pump wouldn't turn !!!! It's fine with the delete piece out but in (it's very tight to get in) it hardly moves. I tried to get the oil pump off to check it but I can't get the poxy little screw out!!! I'll come back to that tomorrow as I was wound up by then.
In other news today, I got more deliveries!!!
Some bargain tyres from the Mlr group buy

And my official BAMA membership finally came through , after over a month !!!

So , current things holding me up;
Oil pump issue
Whilst taking off rear arms I've become stuck with 2 ball joint nuts half off. They may be cut off soon!
Once these problems are solved I'll hopefully really get cracking.
Stay tuned for more updates soon.

I <3 these cars SOOOOOO much! When 25yrs is up, and they can legally be brought to the states… I WANT!! Hopefully there will be some that are available at that point.
Kudos on a fabulous pickup!! Nice build thus far.

Hey, little side question as you seem quite experienced with our (6's) cars.
I'm going to be upgrading to a TME turbo on my 6, in your opinion what sort of performance increase should i be expecting? Faster spool? etc etc
