I'll get into more detail later in the build, but the drivetrain in this evo came from my daily driver evo which I need to sell. The finished car was put together really just for the shootout.
Glad to hear you guys plan on playing with the stock turbo some more & hopefully dip her into the 9s...

Time to update. Took a lot of time to mock up the front end. Im glad I kept the front end I chopped off earlier because I ended up using several tabs to make sure the bumper and fenders were in the factory location. Saved time on guessing and hoping everything was perfect.
Got the tabs made on the intercooler and started mocking that up. I trimmed the front bumper so the intercooler would be as far forward as I could get it. Also made the tabs that will mount the radiator right behind the intercooler.

Thank you! That was the intention. Original plan was a long runner manifold and stock turbo so I didnt want to cram everything in like the factory setup is.

So now starts the fun part of the build. You've seen the work I have done on the car from about November 2013 through about February 2014. I had lost interest in finishing the car due to personal reasons so it basically sat for several months.
As we're approaching the middle of July I have both of my evo's up for sale. This drag shell, and my daily driver evo. One night Im looking through facebook and of course there's plenty of "____ days until the shootout" posts. That night I read "31" days. So later on I bring up the topic to my wife of combining both cars to make one for the shootout, then when its over put my daily driver back up for sale. Much to my surprise she agreed!
I walk into my work the next day and ask the guys what they thought about getting the cars made into one for the shootout in 30 days. Nothing but 100% support. Well, here we go! We weren't slammed at work so I jumped on swapping the drivetrain into the red car to see what we needed to get the ball rolling. By the end of the day the whiteboard was filled and we were set.
I wish I could describe in this thread just how crazy the next 30 days were. You'll see from the photos how much was crammed into a small time.
Here we are already a week or so in. Im finishing up fabbing the front tube work while Tyler works on the support on the side skirt. Take a look at the rear quarter. I wanted to change the color of the car so it wasn't mistaken as Tylers car. My original color or choice was a satin black with gold accents. Well, we talked it out and agreed on a pearl white because Chris our sales guy had some spare vinyl laying around. He started to wrap the car and for the most part looked great. There were a few spots I wasn't happy with so I asked if he could redo them. Only problem is now we had to buy more vinyl. "We have to spend X on vinyl, why dont we see how much paint is" Our neighboring shop that does paint offered to do a full paint in pearl for about half the price of what it would normally cost. Off came the vinyl and we add another 10-15 hours of body work....

Working on fabbing up the upper I/C pipe and locating various wiring and hoses before stripping the bay.

Most of the interior is done being mocked up so we started stripping it out and cleaning it up.

Here we are a few weeks in. The picture says everything. At this point Tyler and I haven't stopped working on the car. We clocked 19 straight days before I left for a wedding. Including working on customer cars we averaged 12 hours a day for each of us. Of course Tyler took over and kept the help up with the car and installing parts on the motor while I was gone.

Now keep in mind at this point, Aug 1, the car was supposed to be prepped and ready for paint. I got 3 hours of sleep in the 48 hours leading up to leaving for the wedding. No idea how I stayed awake, but I knew it had to be done. I come back from my trip on the 4th. Car hasn't even left for paint. The guy painting it couldnt get it in the booth because of another car that was given the wrong paint color and had to be resprayed. If you want to talk about stress, this did it. We had every minute for the remaining days to the shootout planned to a T.
Im finishing up the sanding and smoothing of the engine bay.

Tyler helping grind the last few welds/studs/useless metal

I'll update in a week or so with the start of the assembly process.
