06 Mr reborn...

Hi everyone,

I've been a member on here for a little over a year now, figured it's about time for me to start a build thread. Here's a little back story on my car & how i acquired it.
I had a friend of mine inform me someone local was going to part out a evo ix mr, so i wanted to see what was left & was it what i wanted to take on as a build. I got in touch with the guy the next evening & come to find out he had only sold the seats out of it sofar. He wanted to sell it whole if right price was offered, which might i add was a SUPER STEAL!! It had some quarter panel damage & needed a new right front headlight/fender. so we agreed on a price & i picked up the car a week later. Then the car set up for awhile while i was planning out how i wanted to build my ix.

2006 graphite grey Mr. Which might i add this car was taken care of & had a handful of tasteful mods done to it. I've ended up deciding while getting the quarter panel fixed & gathering what parts i needs to make it whole again. I was going to tear it down & build it the way i wanted it to be. I ended up ripping everything out of the shell till it was a bare rolling shell. which i ended up selling my shortblock/acd tcase/6 speed/ etc. Basically everything i didn't need/want anylonger. Then i hauled it up to a local paint & body shop to have a simple fix/respray. Which lead to well a full color change & shaved bay.
Which I've decided to delete acd/abs, shave almost every hole in my bay. I'm going to be building/tucking my engine harness/engine bay harness, tucking my brake line's, etc.
I'll be posting up pic's later this evening.

Best of luck with 'her! I hope the progress goes as trouble-free as possible! I am glad you saved 'her, and that soon she'll be amongst the 'living' again! I look forward to your updates! Thanks for sharing! Cheers to a long road ahead!

Finally a few week's back I've decided it was time to start pulling everything apart to get it stripped & ready for paint/body work. So here are some more pic's of the process.

Everything marked with yellow masking tape was either shaved off or filled in. Here is a pic of a friend of mine helping me get her loaded up to get ready to drop her off for some body work.

At this point I've acquired a new set of door's from a local part out, headlights, & side skirts & a few other odd's & in's i needed to get to this point.

It's been a week & they ended up being able to repair the quarter panel without replacing it. Which i would say they did a incredible job here sofar. They also started to fix the c panel's where the previous owner decided to install a sti-yes a subaru roof spoiler. For the love of me idk why lol

While they were doing body work/shaving the bay. I had to decide weather or not to respray car or do complete color change. It took a week or so to decide, but i finally choose to do a full color change - Electric Blue Pearl - I've always loved this color.

By this time, I'm already starting to see a change. I can't wait to see the bay painted...getting excited..lol

A few day's later, i returned to snap a few pic's of a freshly painted bay..

Once the bay was painted the car set for a month. I was in the process of buying a house, i didn't need them to rush on paint. So they moved mine aside & did some other work they had.

This the first time my car has been moved out side in over a month now. Time to get cracking on painting rest of her. She should be out of paint in 2 weeks time.
