As promised...I snuck a few pics of the motor in it's current state, and also dropped off all the goodies at the same time.

Can't wait until this thing is done!

Hopefully, and soon; I'll be bringing some life back to this thread.

Items that I'm currently working on purchasing.

1. A Built 5 speed Gearbox with an Evo 9 1st gear with all the bells and whistles.
2. A Slim Full Core Radiator.

Items that are currently being worked on.

1. Cylinder Head.
2. Bottom End assembly.

I've also approached a local entrepreneur about cleaning up my engine bay of any rust; and to also respray it as well.

I've seen his work on his personal car. Lets say it's spot on! I can't wait to have this thing back on the road again.

2018 Update!

Gearbox:

Initially I was planning on going through TRE for my gearbox build. Unfortunately I can add my name to list of many that have had their patience tested.

So…I pulled the trigger with Buschur Racing. Within 30mins I had 3 emails from them, and within a day I was on the phone with Dan. With that said a brand new gearbox has been bought and will get the Buschur touch added to it.

I also feel the need to share that customer service goes a long way when spending this kind of money. Dan gave me options to choose from and even advised me to take some time out to think about what I wanted to achieve and what was cheaper vs more expensive. Least to say, I really appreciate and respect that.

Cylinder Head

I’m also currently in the process of sending off my cylinder head to Curt Brown. Once all funds are saved, this will be off to the US sometime between now and mid Feb.

Bottom End

Unfortunately, there’s nothing to report on this as yet. But I have some time to do other things in between so I’m taking advantage of that.

Misc. Things

New Headlights:
I happened to luck out on this one. Through extensive searching, I happened to stumble upon a site (which I won’t name at this time lol) that I can get New headlight housings so I won’t have to pay the lovely JDM Evo Tax. I’ll tackle these once I receive my cylinder head back from Curt Brown.

Radiator:
I’m planning to get a 36mm core KOYO Evo 4/5/6 Radiator out of the UK. Hopefully after the gearbox shipped to the island and cleared I can focus on getting that.

Paint:
Oh Yes! This car looks like burnt out period blood red! I’m definitely painting this car over before the motor goes back in.

I have a long road ahead. And I’m hoping to keep the ball rolling with everything else I have planned. As for a time frame of when I think I’ll be back on the road. I think it’s a safe bet to aim for October 2018. Wish me luck…cause I need it LOL.

Well guys…The gearbox is done! So we can take this as a Mini Update.

I'm not getting paid to promote. But I feel the need to give credit where it’s due.

Dan Buschur is the man!
He’s a down to earth, easy to talk to; honest guy.
He's consistent with keeping in touch with you and providing updates.
He's very keen on making sure you are sure what you're asking for.
He will advise you and provide options based on your goals.
He will execute!
His style of customer service has to be the best I’ve experienced so far.

For now I only have one picture, but this one picture is good enough for me at this point. Once in my possession, I’ll update the thread with the build specs.

Alriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighty THEN!

Clean is an understatement at this point.

Represent!

Build Specs are as follows:
Brand Spankin New Evo 9 5 Speed Gearbox.
Rem treated 1-4 gears.
Custom straight cut double synchro 4th gear (1.00 ratio).
Billet Output Tube.

Mr. Dan told me that he has a few 900+hp Evo's running this setup (minus the REM treatment), with no issues at all.

The most common issues range from the simplest to the most complicated of things: gritting while shifting during casual driving, high rpm lockout in various gears, and the famous 4th gear grenading.

However, I want to avoid all of those issues. With my goal to have the car in the 600 to 700 hp range I need something that can take the abuse. Some of my friends are saying it's overkill, but I've already seen some of the guys down here, who are already approaching those kinds of hp umber and are already having 2nd and 4th gear lockout issues.

Indeed it was one hell of a hefty peny, but one that was well spent, no doubt. Please bare in mind, that I bought a brand new OEM Evo 9 5 speed, so for those of you in the US; it will be much cheaper for you to just have your box sent to Mr. Dan Buschur to work his magic.

Basically, this is the gearbox setup you would want if you don't have the cash to fork out for a PPG gearset. I really can't wait to get this thing on the car.......now, I just need to get the rest of the car back together. first before I can enjoy the gearbox

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I sure as well need it, and alot of us on here need the encouragement.

Going with Dan was a smart move. He has done all my trans/tcase and rear diff work. He does fantastic work! He will not push extra bs you do not need. He has my t-case and rear diff in his shop now that I have to pick up.

Agreed x10. I'd recommend him to anyone, especially to those who have never had a gearbox built before.

Cool The cylinder head is back home!

Peek a boo!

Got something back from the man himself, Mr. Curt Brown!

Exhaust Runner.

Intake Runner.

It's slowly coming together ya'll. Now to get the motor back together, the bay resprayed; and the car running once again. Getting that good ole Boost Spirit back again!

Thanks man. Really looking forward to having the car back together. I can only dream of how the characteristics of the motor have been changed.
