Evo 8 Revival

So a little back story on this car. It was originally owned by Jeff Beagley. He had some problems, so a friend of mine was talked into buying it off of Jeff. Come to find out, the 2.4LR that was in it, was shot. This was his first Evo and he was in over his head for a full rebuild, so I bought him out of it. During the short time that he had it, he bought a brand new 6466 off an EvoM member in Florida, so I made him throw that in with the deal (Score!).

Fast forward to today. My original plan was to just get it running, and enjoy it as a daily car that I could beat on. Anyone that knows me, knows I can't keep anything "simple" or "basic". And so it started....I had the engine bay repainted by Tanners Custom & Collision in Kansas City.

After that, I installed an AMS carbon roof and a set of JDM Evo IX MR headlights. Like I said, I can't keep things basic.

During this time, a lot of good Black Friday deals were going on. I went ahead and scooped up a Sheepey top mount hot parts kit. Not sure if I'm going to use this yet because I'm debating on going to a bigger turbo. Who knows???

After this, I started to really start cleaning up everything. This car was put through hell and wasn't cleaned very well at all. Took the front suspension apart, and started cleaning the fender wells and control arms. Ordered Whiteline ball joints and tie rod ends. I also bought a set of billet aluminum brake spindles from EvoDan. These things came out amazing!

After I started getting all this pieced together, Dan talked me into the Diamond tubuar front subframe with the manual steering rack. Since i was ordering the front, why not order the rear as well? Also, I wanted to convert all the bolts on the bottom of the car to titanium. The amount of corrosion that was on these were unreal!

Next were brakes. You can see in the previous pictures, I installed a Whalen Speed brake booster delete kit. I also picked up both sets of STM lightweight brakes with standard rotors. Along with this, Dan hooked me up with some titanium hardware to mount the calipers and to safety wire the top hats on the rotors. I got in touch with Ahmed from Vivid Racing, and he hooked me up on a set of Ohlin R&T to finish up everything for suspension.

So now that the front was done, it's time to move to the rear! I started with the tank. Pulled it down and cleaned it all off. Removed all the factory lines since I knew I would upgrade to bigger ones. Sent my fuel pump hanger out to EvoDan and had it upgraded to twin 450's with -8AN feed. Also installed my Diamond rear subframe with a Shep 12 plate upgraded rear diff. Cleaned up all the rear suspension arms, ordered Blackworks LCA's, all new bushings, and DSS 900 hp axles. She shouldn't have any problems 60' now!

In the middle of waiting on a bunch of this, I also started working on other things. Sent my transmission off to Shep and had Evo 9 1st and 5th with 4.11 FD installed and ordered a VooDoo lightweight dash bar. Removed all the heater core and blower motor, along with all the sound deadening in the car, and tucked some wires in the engine bay. Shooting for sub 2500 pounds in the car without a cage or chute. Also, ordered a new headliner since the previous owner tried to wrap the old one and I didn't like it at all. Dealer said it was the last one in the world, so lucky me!

Thanks guys. My STM staging brake kit will be here tmw, so I can get the rear brakes all set up Friday, my front and rear Whiteline sway bars will show up. Then I'll just be waiting on EvoDan to finish up his billet sway bar mounts, and she can get put on the ground!

I found a great deal on some new carpet, and apparently is the last one in the country. So excited to have brand new interior in the car. Scratched/scraped interior eerks me to no end.

Just a little update:

Was able to get my STM staging brake setup installed. Yesterday, I got to assemble my rear wheel bearings for my DSS axles, and throw on the STM rear small brake kit. Got everything torqued down. Just need to order new nuts for the rear ball joints, and sway bar mounts for my Whiteline rear sway bars. On a side note, new OEM carpet shows up tomorrow!

Now that I've got both sides of the small brake kit on, I was able to focus on some other things. I was able to install the new headliner, sun visors, and "Oh ****" handles. Found a smoking deal on a new carpet. Normally around $650 with shipping, got it for $495 shipped. Threw that in. Also got Whiteline front and rear sway bars in. Waiting on EvoDan to finish his billet mounts for the front, and I'll be picking those up with titanium hardware. Almost back to a roller status!

Small update (no pictures). Was able to clean up the dash harness quite a bit this weekend. Deleted a lot of plugs that weren't being used. (Heater Core, Blower Motor, HVAC controls, SRS ECU and airbag plugs) Last night, I started on more with the crash sensors on the core support and wheel speed sensors, since I deleted ABS. Loving the clean look of everything.

Looking to make some big purchases this week. Ordering STM lexan kit, new dash with OEM carbon trim, Kirkey pro drag seats with covers and side mount brackets. Possibly Sparco carbon steering wheel and Works hub. She's definitely coming together. Then just to transfer over the manual windows and locks from my IX RS shell.

Not sure I'm going to post many more updates after this. Not gauging too much interest, which is fine. Just a small update. Ordered an STM lexan kit, new OEM dash, and EvoDan billet rear sway bar brackets with Ti hardware. Probably ordering a Kirkey seat setup tomorrow and some more interior pieces.

Very cool build! It will gauge more interest, just give it more time. This is especially true once you get to the engine work. You've posted everything except that so far.
