SoSo's 06 EVO 9 Special Edition build journal
! It has been a long time coming and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel haha. Hopefully DB will send me some pictures soon of the tcase and rear diff being rebuilt or I'll get an update when I drop off all the parts, stay tuned.
You know if DB takes any longer on this, I am sure I am going to find more parts laying around to give you haha.
@SoSoEVO and @MinusPrevious if you guys arent doing anything this weekend, swing by the speedway (lot 6) for some racing!

. I think I'm free I should be able to come out one of the days.
Got my Evo 8 rears with the centers (originally that waffle texture blue) recovered in Recaro confetti fabric. My upholstery place added foam to the backs of the fabric to make them plush and puffy, not sure if that's what you're suppose to do but I think they came out awesome! Also the lighting is a little funky in the pictures but the fabric is darker in person but it's a good contrast between the black cloth and the confetti fabric.
Let me know what you guys/ gals think...

When I first received the fabric in the mail.

Updates:
Old oil pump wear which was causing my low oil psi.

Tcase has been finished being rebuilt, all bearing and seals replaced. Also reshimmed to eliminate whine, was told my oem R&P had minimal wear so a re shim is all it needed.

Long block with new oem short block, and rebuilt head all assembled.

Next up should be my rear diff rebuild along with my Kaaz 1.5lsd install. Stay tuned!

UPDATES!!!
Rear diff rebuilt, Kaaz 1.5way lsd installed, motor is in and everything put back together, Koyo rad installed, STM race oil cooler/ lines installed, all AC o-rings replaced along with Freon recharge, rubber heater hoses replaced, rubber lower rad hose replaced...upper hose is still gonna be my previously installed Samco silicone one haha. Motor started up with 100lbs cold oil psi
, they had a minor issue with the power steering on the test drive (I brought them in a Evo 8 used lower mileage power steering pump to replace my current one bearings were starting to make noise.) DB got that all ironed out no problems and like that my Evo was ready for pickup...I should have time this week to go pick it up. Gonna be hard for me to drive it easy during the break-in party for the engine, rear diff lsd, and clutch.

Oh I also picked up a set of track wheels in 17in. Weds Racing SA-72R "widespec" 17x9.5 +32 specifically made for the Evo 8/9 fitment with the Brembos. I got an awesome deal on them from a local speed shop doing a closeout special and I think they look killer! Tires are gonna be the wide bois...Falken RT660 in 255/40/17. I'm thinking these tires run the same width as my 265s on my 18s, I'll have to verify once I get my car back. Either way the 17s are gonna be meaty!!!!

So I got my Evo back
she feels great! I did have a few minor issues driving home from DBtrans (about a 50 mile trip) first there was a screeching/ squeeling coming from the front brake area, my AEM oil pressure gauge was reading a constant 81psi, and I had a CEL come on.
I took apart the front brakes clean/ lubed everything up and that fixed the noise. The CEL was the rear o2 sensor so I replaced that with one @Lumpy Sticks had a spare of and that fixed that CEL. The AEM oil pressure was working prior to me picking up the car as DB said the initial startup of the engine read 90-95psi, turns out DB must have snagged the wire below the car on something and it just so happened to only break the sensor signal wire that goes to the oil psi. Kinda funny because all 3 of my AEM gauges are ran in the same spot and only the one wire got affected. So a quick splice of that wire with solder/ heat shrink and now the oil psi gauge is working fine.
With those issues fixed now I could just drive the car, I installed my Recaro Lemans print rear seats and did a mini detail on the car as it was super dusty from sitting outside so long.

Unfortunately after driving around all weekend about 200miles I got another CEL p0401 "insufficient egr flow" there must be something going on with my egr valve or solenoid I need to troubleshoot that as my tags were due the beginning of May. I need to smog my car so I won't pass if my readiness monitors don't get set and that p0401 will definitely cause it not to set. DB said they would help me look at the CEL so when I bring the Evo back for the 500 mile clutch break in/ pedal adjustment I'll have them look at it if I haven't already fixed it by then.
I'm very very very happy to have my Evo back and running healthy after so long. DBtrans did a great job, everything I asked them to do was done they even purchased my old short block from me to offset some of the repair cost.
That's where I'm at now so stay tuned for further updates.
Thanks!
