Medalion Catback???

Hello I just recently purchased my evo 8 and it came with a medalion catback. It doesn’t sound bad but seems a tad quiet. I’ve been looking on here for any info about it and can’t seem to find any. I’m looking for a DP and TP so I need to figure out if I’m better off removing the current exhaust or not. Whatever help or input you have is greatly appreciated

I believe this is what you are dealing with

https://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhaust.asp

the medalion is known for being quiet but still offering good performance. Pretty much any DP/test pipe that is meant to replace factory parts should work with this cat back.

My first exhaust for the Evo was the Tanabe Medallion Touring catback . It was nice and quiet even for my standards of 1 dB over stock I consider as too loud . Once I put on a down pipe and test pipe it got louder . Not obnoxious loud but more than I like. So having said that, if it is too quiet for you now, instead replacing the catback , try it with a test pipe and or bigger down pipe .

I’m not sure about your Tanabe I believe is the Medallion Concept G . Which is a little different than the one I had, but I believe opening up the rest of the exhaust will yield the same results of louder exhaust . On the bright side , DP and TP both will help with power , so even if it’s still too quiet for you , you can still change the catback and the DP and TP would not be a waste .
