Finally got an EVO! Project

Hey Guys,
How are y'all doing?
For a long time now I have always wanted an EVO and in November 2021.
I finally got myself 2004 Evo 8 SSL. I've had an 2005 STI before when I was in my early 20's back in 2011.
I currently daily a F150 and been working for some time and have decided to spoil myself a little.
I just wanted to introduce myself even though I know there aint that many ppl on forums anymore.
Also, I couldn't find an intro thread so I thought I'd make one for myself. Please let me know if that's not allowed
I'll def post some pics later this week!!

Congrats!! And welcome to the Evo world. Such a fun car.
After too much time just sitting in my garage, I am finally putting some fresh upgrades and some overdue work into my Evo 8 that I bought back in 2003 and daily drove for 13 years straight. These cars are just soooo much fun. We will look forward to hearing about your experiences with the new whip. My Jeep GC SRT has been putting smiles on my face but just not the same rawness that the Evo provides. Different animals for sure.

Hey Guys, Cleaning my car today and I came across this lever in my car. is this to control my boost? I bought this car from a dealer with an "Evo 9 turbo" but it isn't the case. The car is being stored until spring time. But so far I know it has a dump tube and a fpblack turbo.
I'm definitely clueless to what it could be.

Dont think that is an electronic boost controller? (Turbo timer maybe?) The only manual system im aware of would be in the engine bay & is not electronic. For sure i would not be interested in messing w/the boost on the fly or otherwise

Well for sure w/the FP Black, the ECU should have been & was likely tuned. If you pop the hood there should be a 3 port boost solenoid bolted to the left fender area on the frame

Pop the hood & take a few pics for us showing us FP Black & the intake. Curious if we can spot a few details for you in the bay

Cheers, Joe

By the time i get home from work its gets pretty dark. I looked at the firewall pass through and the line doesn't seem to go into the engine bay. looks like its staying in the car.

tail bov with dump

grimmspeed ebcs

Yeah, those pics show a few things i can see:
  • 3 port boost solenoid
  • Open intake using stock MAF
  • Looks like a TIAL waste gate installed on the down pipe (blue thing)
  • Coil over suspension
  • Coil on plug ignition
  • Stock cast exhaust manifold
  • Stock blow off valve
Happy for ya on your new toy!

one possibility for the knob is a subwoofer control. You have an aftermarket headunit so it could be that.

That knob is most likely a bass controller. Does it have an aftermarket amp for the sub?

You guys are sharp. Is that a boost controller? No, its a bass controller LOL!

If it were me, id go full throttle, playing my progressive rock (Tool) & seeing 26 PSI & while turning that bass knob would give me the full experience

All in all, super stoked for our new owner & project
