For reference, I sold my STi for the Evo. The Evo is a MUCH cooler car. Quicker, more aggressive, handling out of this world, and has much more mod potential for less money. The STis are great, but the stock 2.5L EJ257 with a GT40 isn't going to last long.

because, STI's with 500whp cant break into low 12's or 11's, look it up, many tried and failed, and if u wanna get past 400 whp, u better start saving to rebuild, and a rebuild on a flat four is insanely hard and costly. if your in it for the show, then more power to you, but some may say its one ugly piece of work. my suggestions is take it off road cause its not taking evo's on the road thats for sure.
if trade for a MK4 supra or...BMW M3's or 335i's thats just me

Wow you are very mis-informed. I have personally seen quite a few STI's that have 400-450 WHP run very low 11's between 125-130 mph. For instance Mike warfields wrx with a 35R ran a 11.2@113 due to blowing off an intercooler pipe half way down the track, It is an easy 10 sec car and it was making 430WHP at the time. He ran it earlier on 28psi instead of the 35psi that blew off the intercooler pipe and it ran a 11.1@128.
MarkG ran his STI to a 11.3@127 on the bone stock motor with a 35R on 100 oct.
These are just a few of the guys I know in my area. I can name more if you like...

How long do you think the motorwill hold up running that kind of power though?? Any idea how many miles some of those guys have gotten out of their motors running a GT35? I've just been under the impression that they wont last very long at all with stock internals at those power levels... which if thats true it would be pointless to go with a 35R or anything larger than a FP green really unless you have the cash to fork out for a rebuilt once it blows up
Honestly it is all in the tune, just a hint of detonation will destroy the cast piston which is the weakest link in the motor. MarkG did blow his motor but he had his 35R on for over a year before it let go and he drove that car everyday. I have been running my FP Red for just a few thousand miles and expect it to last quite awhil with a semi conservative 20 psi tune on pump with no meth and a 28-30psi c-16 map for the track only. I am prepared to build a new motor when the time comes though. Another friend of mine is pushing a FP green for 60,000 miles on his car and it still runs great with perfect compression across the board. Like I said if you have a competent tuner your motor will last for a while. But like anything when you double the output out of any stock motor it is just a matter of time before it breaks.
