FS: Quartermaster Twin Disc (Lots of Pictures!)
Wow that was awesome man thanks for all the info that was the perfect answer I was looking for. I figured the slip room was going to be stupid small, I saw something on PTT's website mentioning that on one of their clutches (I believe their 7.25 clutch, which is almost identical to the QM) its around a 3/16 inch worth of play between when the material makes contact and to when it is fully engaged, thats extremely narrowl!
Shep told me the same exact thing bout the hubs being unsprung and all the energy the solid hubs transmit to the drivetrain wouldnt really be very appealing for a car thats mainly a street car. Im on the stock clutch right now still and its at 42,000 miles almost exactly and its on its last leg, Ive never been able to 2step launch it doesnt even grab and even in gear sometimes doing a pull it will slip at 4,000rpm or so.
I wouldnt mind the decel noise at all or the dying baby birds, but the drivetrain shudder would probably bother me. especially if the interior would start rattling around on the highway after being jarred around so much from getting moving, it would drive me nuts hearing my dash rattle and stuff. Id put up with it though in the long run as long as I knew when it came time to put the power down, it wouldnt have a hiccup at all.
I know theyre such awesome clutches I just wish theyd last 20,000 even Id be happy with, but Im not gonna be able to swing 10,000 miles rebuild to rebuild
Im still deciding, but as of now it looks like Ill be trying out the Exedy HD twin. Thank you again for all the info
